New Life Youth Forum - UnTrashing Nature: How Can It Be Done?
What if the things we throw away could tell us something about the world weβre building?
Inspired by New Life by Bordalo II, a new art landmark sustainability initiative centred around a large-scale sculpture at Gardens by the Bay, this inaugural New Life Youth Forum brings young people into the conversation on waste, biodiversity, conservation, climate change and sustainability.
β»οΈ Can we rethink our relationship with consumption?
π What does Singaporeβs waste problem have to do with nature and biodiversity?
π¨ Can art change the way we see environmental issues?
πΌ What responsibility do businesses have in creating a more sustainable future?
π± And where do young people fit into all of this?

Why decent living standard benchmarks matter: principles, practice and possibilities
What does it take to live with dignity?
Reflecting on 20 years of MIS research in the UK and beyond, this lecture will first set out the value of decent living standards benchmarks in addressing inequalities, exploring some key principles underpinning how dignity is understood within MIS researchπ§
It will then detail some of the ways in which MIS research has and can be used in moving towards a more equal, less divided world β to inform living wages, to identify positive changes in public services and provision, to identify additional and different needs. The lecture will end by looking to the future, asking how MIS projects can help address the complex, βwickedβ problems of the next 20 yearsπ€
