From the archives: Clips from a 2011 TV3 documentary called Paul Connolly investigates Ireland's bogus beggars.

A number of elected representatives and journalists were interviewed including the editor of the Big Issue. All agreed that Roma had come to Ireland to engage in industrial scale organised begging. Connolly even set up CCTV cameras to capture footage of the ring leaders collecting the day's take.

Any Roma interviewed denied it and claimed only some individuals begged because they didn't have access to education and were poor. One woman said she was only pulling in €420 a week in social welfare so was compelled to beg, bless.

Thirteen years later and the problem has only grown. They EU Commission estimated that there are now 37,500 Roma living in Ireland when they calculated the funding they deserve.

One of the locals in Ballyogan was interviewed by EU and local election candidate for Tallaght Central, Philip Dwyer, a couple of weeks back.

He told Dwyer that 30 Roma were living in council supported housing next to him and it reminded me of Aisling Murphy's trial when we learned that her murderer, Josef Puska, had around 30 family members living in his council supported house too.

What I suspect is happening is that once one Roma gets social housing, they'll pack the house with their extended family who'll all register as homeless and wait to be provided homes of their own.

Gript had a good report last week explaining that while over 14,000 people are registered as homeless in the State, only 55% of the adults are Irish citizens.

We've previously learned that between 30%-40% of people who are registering as homeless in Ireland every month are newly arrived immigrants with a large contingent being Roma, so the homeless problem could be halved by just deporting people.

🚨 Community Alert for Dooradoyle in limerick.

A foreign man with a goatee beard and driving a white car followed a young woman as she travelled the 12 minute walk home from the gym to her housing estate yesterday in Dooradoyle.

The woman said she was too scared to record the man's face in case it made him angry but she will ask a neighbour if her security camera managed to capture footage.

This is probably one of my most shared clips.

The then Táinaiste and Peter Sutherland protégé, Simon Coveney, let the cat of the bag at a public meeting at the Goat Bar & Grill in Goatstown on the 27th of November 2018, unaware he was being recorded.

He had previously told Newstalk of the government's desire to double the population of every city outside Dublin but nobody had asked him how.

That evening he explained the plan was to import half a million immigrants over the following 20 years while trying to avoid migration becoming a political issue. It was a startling admission but he could rely on the media to never report on his remarks.

But not even I could have envisioned we'd already be two thirds of the way there with a population increase of 340k just six years on. Imagine what the next 14 will be like if we don't turn this around.

This report doesn't say who the 7,000 new registrations were but Kerry accommodates 7,292 Ukrainians along with 1,200 international protection applicants. I expect there's a similar pattern around the country.

An Xpost by Paul Trevaud went viral yesterday claiming 600 Ukrainians were added to the register in Killarney in one day alone last week and all orchestrated by one local election candidate.
