As to the anthropic cosmological principle, let’s say that parts of it are self-evident though sometimes productive.
The inspirational cosmologist John Barrow died at his Cambridge home yesterday, aged 67.He was a polymath — engaging with philosophy and history, as well as science — and internationally influential through books and lectures.

This concept of “colorblind parenting” has come under fire recently for perpetuating racism, for good reason.
For me, colorblind parenting means something different.
In other words, I use colorblind parenting because I know that all humans are genetically united and can trace their common origins back to Africa.
When I use “colorblind parenting,” I don’t mean that my children should pretend not to see race.
Knowing what I know now, should I continue colorblind parenting?

Direct Cash Transfers work.
We’ve had numerous trials of direct cash transfers.
But the more modern of the ancient oppositions to direct cash relief may come from the intentional misinformation of the Speenhamland System.
This misinformation would have repercussions so severe, that even Marx himself would come to oppose direct cash relief.
That said, UBI and direct cash transfer policies are growing in support, in part because of the strong evidence that they work.

China’s Nuclear Program Baffled Soviet IntelligenceThe United States wants to include China in negotiations on nuclear weapons with the Russian Federation.
The evidence shows just how hard it was for even a state like the Soviet Union to conduct nuclear intelligence effectively.
The Soviets had one significant advantage over the United States in terms of intelligence on China’s nuclear weapons program: Moscow had participated in the early days of Beijing’s nuclear industry.
The Soviets, however, were dissatisfied with their ability to gain intelligence on China’s nuclear explosions.
Clear answers are hard to find, but understanding Russia’s analysis of China’s nuclear weapons will be crucial for achieving cooperation among the great powers.

Most people hardly give a thought to nonverbal communication and peripheral participation.
It turned out that a big contributor to frustration and having to do things over again was the loss of two forms of knowledge critical to any team and to any interaction: nonverbal communication and peripheral participation.
Most people hardly give a thought to these kinds of communication—they have only recently become hot topics of investigation in online work worlds.
There are no departments in universities dedicated to nonverbal or embodied communication, and few books on communication consider it beyond a cursory discussion.
But after moving to work environments dependent on online communication, the engineers had to “chase knowledge,” as they put it.

Through most of the Earth's history, there was no intelligent life on this planet.
Through most of the history of intelligent life on this planet, humans had no technology that could readily be detected from afar.
Finding proof of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe would perhaps be the greatest scientific discovery of all time.
I'd be ecstatic if someone detects a message, but I sure don't expect it to happen.
The only message such life will broadcast is a chemical, molecular one.
