Apple has rolled out its latest iOS 27.2 update for iPhones and iPads, featuring expanded language support and improved memory functions for Siri AI, suggestions in messages, and Apple Pencil support for the foldable iPhone Duo.
With the new software update, Siri AI can now be used in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, in beta. Apple says the AI assistant can now remember details from past conversations and answer accordingly. The ability for AI assistants to remember a person’s preferences have been a key area of focus for AI model makers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, whose assistants now do a better job at recalling facts and choices related to users.

Locals in a rural area of California were recently startled to see dazzlingly bright light shining down from nearby mountains at night, illuminating a swathe of the desert below. The night-time light demonstration was conducted by a US startup called Reflect Orbital, which has an almost sci-fi aim to launch 50,000 satellites into space in the next decade to illuminate parts of the world at night.
In July, the FCC approved Reflect Orbital’s proposal to launch an initial demonstration satellite next year, which will orbit the Earth and, via a 59ft-diameter mirror, reflect sunlight in 3-mile-wide beams in strengths from moonlight up to the brightness of the sun at noon.
This provided, the company said, a realistic simulation of one of the benefits of this technology: to help search-and-rescue teams and other emergency responders at night. Other planned uses include bathing crops in sunlight, replacing broken streetlights and even providing solar power for military operations, all summoned by the tap of a button on an app.

C2FO, the world’s largest platform for working capital, and Ripple announced an initiative to bring the financing and settlement activity supporting the new C2FO Instant Pay solution™onto the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
Today, C2FO Early Pay™ programs, including C2FO Dynamic Discounting™ and C2FO Dynamic Supply Chain Finance™, have already helped businesses access more than 520 billion in working capital through the accelerated payment of approved invoices. But even when an invoice is paid early, they can still wait several days for funds to move through legacy bank settlement infrastructure.
Purpose-built for institutional use, RLUSD has grown to more than $2.5 billion in market capitalization, with more than $1 billion issued on XRPL. XRPL settles transactions in 3–5 seconds at a fraction of a cent, operating 24/7.
“We’ve spent years building a platform that gives businesses more information and control over their working capital. The next opportunity is to make the financial infrastructure behind our marketplace as efficient and connected as the experience we’ve created for customers,” — said Ragui Selwanes, President & COO Americas at C2FO.

🌌 Supercomputer Taps 15,000 GPUs To Rebuild The Early Universe
Scientists have unveiled a supercomputer simulation named Lumina, which is the most detailed window yet into the first two billion years of our universe.
When trying to model the birth of the universe, computational cosmologists are usually forced to choose between simulating vast volumes of space at a coarse resolution or zooming into tiny patches with intricate detail.
Lumina changes all that: spanning a cubical region measuring roughly 1.6 billion light-years across, the simulation tracks ordinary matter, dark matter, and radiation across all that space while retaining enough spatial resolution to model individual galaxies, stellar nurseries, and their surrounding gas flows.
Bringing this map life was an international research team that utilized the Frontier supercomputer located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. Harnessing more than 15,000 GPUs and 100,000 CPU cores, the simulation begins roughly 45 million years after the Big Bang, in the dark ages. Here, gravity slowly pulls tiny fluctuations in matter together, forming thick over-densities for the first generation of galaxies and stellar clusters.
