🤖 “No human at the helm”: Delaware plan would let AI agents run entire businesses

Delaware is developing a legal structure that would allow an AI agent to run a company with no routine human supervision. Delaware's draft would create an entirely new corporate category, the Artificial Intelligence Company, built for autonomous operation from the ground up.

🟠Under the proposal, an AI agent would direct a company's day-to-day business with no requirement for routine human decision-making. The entity would have one member, either a person or an organization, responsible for keeping it adequately funded.

🟠That member would hold broad liability protection from actions taken by the company or by anyone operating at the AIC's direction. The AIC itself could own property, enter contracts, and sue or be sued, and it could pursue any lawful purpose except banking.

❗️None of this is law yet. Delaware's Artificial Intelligence Commission developed the framework following a resolution Gov. Meyer signed in July 2025 to test agentic AI in corporate governance.

Legislation could be introduced as early as 2027, and Meyer's office said it is reviewing Comer's letter.

The results offer the clearest window yet into where the VOICE trial is headed.

The VOICE trial is Neuralink's clinical program specifically targeting speech restoration — not cursor control or typing, but the ability to communicate verbally through thought alone. Participants are individuals who have lost the ability to speak, typically due to conditions like ALS or spinal cord injury.

According to previous Neuralink reporting, the trial began implanting participants in 2026, and by September of this year one participant had already spoken using a voice decoded directly from his brain signals. The hackathon was conducted with one of these active study participants, giving engineers real-world feedback that lab simulations simply cannot replicate.

🤖 Man granted first-of-its-kind religious exemption against mandatory AI use at work

David Durman, a research administrator at the University of Kentucky (UK), has successfully argued that using AI violates his beliefs as a humanist and has received Title VII religious accommodation from university officials not to use the technology.

According to the Religion News Service (RNS), Durman believes in "the human part of life," which includes making his own decisions.

❗️However, he says that when the UK asked its employees to use AI, he felt that doing so would mean outsourcing his thinking to tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, thus violating his deeply held beliefs.

“The process and work involved in thinking through situations, through my work, through my ethics, through the way I handle other people, is a key component in being able to develop myself as a moral person,” Durman said.

“And offloading that labor, regardless of whether it’s taxing or not, is undercutting my ability to be a moral actor.”

Because of this, the research administrator was granted a Title VII exemption under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, whichWhile humanism is often a non- prohibited employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. While humanism is often a non-religious philosophy or a worldview, federal courts have ruled that it qualifies as a religion.

The crypto industry is reeling from a massive hack at Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. Digital assets worth more than $6.3bn (£4.7bn) have reportedly been taken from Binance by North Korean hackers, apparently after a laptop belonging to one of its engineers was hacked.

The company said its teams are “working around the clock” to resolve the issue.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has signed a law that aims to protect children from AI chatbot harms. The legislation requires AI companies to verify users' ages. They'll need to offer users at least one verification method that doesn't entirely rely on government ID. Companies will have to delete this "age information" after use.

If a user is under 18 or a company has yet to confirm the person is an adult, their chatbot will need to abide by certain restrictions. For instance, it cannot pretend "to be a real person, to be alive or to have human emotions."

There will be a website through which the public can file complaints to New York's attorney general. Companies that break the law may be on the hook for civil penalties of up to $25,000 per violation, as well as damages, restitution and other forms of relief. They may also have to delete any data they collect unlawfully along with models trained on that information. The law will take effect in six months.
