Exin Therapeutics, a biotech startup focusing on next-generation neurotherapeutics, claims it has successfully conducted brain surgery on a mouse using an AI agent. Its co-founder and CEO, Gabriel Ocana-Santero, shared the entire procedure on X, showing how the AI agent chose the gene therapy vector and dosage and the brain region where it would be applied.
βAutonomous surgical robots exist and they are better at the mechanics than our bench rig, [to be honest]. But in every one of them, a human decided what operation to perform, and the robot executed it,β β Ocana-Santero said.
βNobody told this agent what to give or where to put it. It got a phenotype and a shelf of candidates and had to work out the therapy and the coordinates itself.β
The AI agent also drove the robotic arms that injected the medication into the mouseβs brain. Thankfully, the operation seems to have been a success, with the mouse recovering well and recorded moving around in its enclosure.

Estonia is set to become the first country in the world where people are invited to screening programs based on genetic data. Next week, all 40-year-old women will receive an invitation for genetic testing to determine their individual breast cancer risk, regardless of whether or not they have health insurance.
Around 3,000 genetic variants are taken into account when calculating the risk. However, the study does not include BRCA gene mutations, which led actress Angelina Jolie to decide to have her breasts removed 13 years ago to prevent developing the disease.
"These are hereditary forms of cancer, which are assessed through separate tests as needed if there has been breast cancer in the family," β Steven Smit, head of the biobank laboratory at the Estonian Genome Center, said.
There are almost 10,000 40-year-old women in Estonia, and invitations will be sent both to those who have already donated their genes to the Estonian Genome Center and to those who have not.

That means all 30 million people that we have sort of plugged into Stellar, it's a default network. Everybody gets a Stellar address.
Yeah, it unlocks two things. So Stellar is the rails, right? Like you've been around since 2014, been really focused on global payments and stablecoins and RWAs and sort of we are the reach.
So our user base is now essentially able to plug in and it means that Stellar users can bring their funds into Metamask now. So XLM, Trustline, Soroban assets, they're all part of Metamask. You don't have to enable anything. It's completely automatic.π€
You're able to swap and bridge those assets from and to different chains and different cryptocurrencies and of course hold, send and receive assets. So basically the whole spectrum of crypto capabilities.π

Flock's AI surveillance cameras are continuing to cause controversy, this time in Dayton, Minnesota, where it is alleged that the company reinstalled two cameras despite express orders from the city not to do so.
The city's local government posted on Facebook to explain, claiming that the Police Department was made aware of a maintenance work order on September 17, to which Dayton responded the next day, stating the program had been put on hold and no work orders were to be completed. However, Flock went ahead and reinstalled them anyway without authorization from the city.
