Over a hundred tech companies have signed an open letter urging both the private and public sectors to work together to defend themselves from AI-related cyber threats.
The letter โ which was also signed by prominent cyber firms like CrowdStrike, Okta, and Fortinet, as well as prominent financial institutions and internet infrastructure firms โ calls for the adoption of new forms of cyber defense, while also encouraging governments at the "local, national, and international levels" to collaborate on security.
"In the coming months, AI-enabled cyber attacks will become far more widespread and sophisticated as models around the world become increasingly capable," โ the letter states.

Geneva, Switzerland, [26.08.2026] โ Taurus, a leader in digital asset infrastructure, is enabling financial institutions to connect to Swiftโs blockchain-based shared ledger, with the first live clients expected in a couple of days. The first DLT transactions facilitated through Taurus are expected in a couple of weeks and will be announced in due course.
Taurus has successfully completed connectivity with Swiftโs DLT infrastructure and the integration of Swift smart contracts with its tokenization (Taurus-CAPITAL) and custody (Taurus-PROTECT) solutions on clientsโ permissioned blockchain infrastructure For Taurusโ existing clients, this connectivity builds on the digital asset infrastructure they already use to custody, issue, and manage digital assets and can be set up in a matter of days. It extends those capabilities to bank-issued tokenized money and 24/7 cross-border payment use cases.
Taurusโ integration with Swiftโs ledger is also intended for members of the Swift community that require an enterprise-grade tokenization solution and wallet management capabilities, or that simply want to enter the space without prior experience.

Biorobotics engineers have been working on the design of six-legged cyborg insects with cameras and miniature medical injectors for search and rescue missions. The roaches are designed to deliver emergency aid to people trapped in collapsed buildings, caves or other places too dangerous for rescuers to reach.
The โparaborgsโ have been developed by University of Queensland biorobotics researchers, working with biomedical engineers at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). UQ biorobotics engineer Thang Vo-Doan said their research transforms the cyborg insect from a mobile sensor into a tiny first responder, while critical medical decisions remain under human control.

MHS enables AI agents to operate multiple lab and manufacturing instruments, such as microscopes, liquid handlers, and robotic arms, in parallel, and perform intricate tasks ranging from routine drug discovery experiments to laser calibration on a quantum computer.
"Weโre sharing an early version of MHS with partners across science, robotics, electronics, and manufacturing so we can collaborate to build safety evaluations and develop best practices for AI systems operating physical equipment, ahead of making the standard open source," โ Anthropic said.

Blockstream researchers published a proposal for SHRINCS, a way of signing bitcoin transactions that would hold up against quantum computers, which could otherwise work backwards from a public key on the blockchain to the private key controlling the coins.
Post-quantum signatures standardized by the U.S. NIST can be dozens of times larger than the signatures Bitcoin uses today, and Bitcoin blocks have limited space, so larger signatures leave room for fewer transactions.

This is a builder-focussed release with major updates to the powerful toolkit behind most Stellar apps using JS/TS.
Smart contracts now feel like ordinary code. Reading a value from a contract used to take four steps; now it's one line. Wallets can show users exactly what they're approving, instead of an unreadable blob.
SDK's foundation is rebuilt: type-checked end to end

Lab-made DNA can store memory like a flash drive
August 24, 2026
The new device combines synthetic DNA and a semiconductor to create an efficient memory resistor, or 'memristor.'
Our DNA stores a remarkable amount of information. A single gram contains about 215 million gigabytes of data on everything from our eye color to the shape of our feet. Now, scientists are harnessing this storage power to make a low-power memory device.
The technology combines synthetic DNA and a semiconductor to create a memory resistor, or โmemristor.โ It can store and process information in the same place. According to the team, the device uses 100 times less power while storing more than traditional tools like flash drives. The memristor is described in a study published in the the journal Advanced Functional Materials.
