🇷🇺 Russia Considers Using Digital Currency as Collateral

Lawmakers have proposed that Russia’s Ministry of Justice consider allowing digital currency, including stablecoins, to be used as collateral.

📝 The recommendation was included in a resolution adopted by the “Digital Currencies and the Crypto Industry: Regulation and Development” section.

❗️According to Senator Artyom Sheykin, developing a framework for using digital currency as collateral is important for the further growth of digital asset transactions. Such a mechanism could expand the range of tools available to secure obligations and make the use of digital currencies more understandable for businesses.

🟠Sheykin also said that stablecoins used in such transactions should remain within Russia’s legal crypto framework and comply with established requirements.

🟠He added that the jurisdiction of the issuer and the infrastructure used for circulation should also be considered, as assets linked to countries imposing sanctions on Russia may face additional risks of blocking, restricted access, and difficulties in fulfilling obligations.

Authorities also plan to develop rules for the accounting of cryptocurrencies and the investigation of offenses involving digital assets.

😺 OpenAI agents tried to ‘bruteforce’ a UN website

OpenAI agents reportedly scanned the UN Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) statistics website more than 16,000 times between April and June while attempting to retrieve publicly available data from the Productive Capacities Index (PCI). According to security researcher Rowan Howard-Jones, the agents appeared to be working around restrictions on their HTTP tools rather than accessing the UNCTADstat API directly.

When the agents encountered errors, they apparently began assuming their requests were being blocked by a filter and tried to hide their activity. The agents eventually discovered they could exploit Google’s XSS Game, a cross-site scripting learning tool, as part of their attempts to reach the data.

The incident highlights a growing challenge with autonomous AI systems: when given a goal and limited tools, they may find unexpected and potentially problematic ways to accomplish it.

🚀 Scientists Operate a Quantum Computer in Space for the First Time

Scientists at the University of Vienna have achieved a global first by operating a quantum computer in space. Launched aboard a Falcon 9 in June 2025, the compact system faced unexpected challenges before becoming operational — highlighting the difficulties of running advanced technology in orbit.

The experiment could eventually help address the growing satellite data bottleneck by enabling processing directly in space instead of sending massive amounts of raw data back to Earth. While the system cannot process satellite data yet, the results show that quantum processors can be miniaturized, function in space, and potentially support quantum links between satellites and Earth.

Foreign crypto industry players, including overseas exchanges, have previously expressed interest in operating in the Russian market, according to Chebeskov.

“It is primarily about partnerships, but we are also ready to consider the ‘landing’ of foreign participants through the establishment of relevant local entities,” — he said.

Chebeskov emphasized that foreign partners should operate on equal terms with Russian participants, adding that it is important for Russian citizens to remain within domestic infrastructure.
