Western sources have confirmed that Iran successfully blinded a sensitive U.S. spy satellite.
This news was first revealed by Dudi Cohen on Sunday, December 18, 2011, on the website of the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth. Cohen wrote, “European intelligence sources stated that Iran used precise laser targeting to blind a U.S. spy satellite, leaving the West in shock.”
An American official told the newspaper, "If the Iranians have acquired advanced satellite-disrupting technology, it means many other satellites could also be at risk."
According to European intelligence, Iran’s ability to blind a U.S. spy satellite was an unprecedented event, achieved through highly accurate laser targeting. U.S. media suggested that this incident may indicate Iran’s success in developing satellite interference technology, allowing them to track and disrupt U.S. satellite navigation capabilities.
Experts in Tehran have labeled this revelation as the third major blow in response to America’s pressure strategy, following Iran’s capture of a U.S. drone and spy. This accomplishment signals that Iran has reached advanced technologies in aerial control and validates Iran’s claim of downing the RQ-170 drone using electronic warfare.
