▪️ It should be noted, however, that Herzl was a secular Jew and did not place much faith in religious beliefs.

▪️ In pursuing this vision, Herzl put forward an idea that helped fuel a conflict which has kept the Palestinian question at the forefront of global affairs. He stated:

🔻 One of the most important aspects of the establishment of Israel is the alliance between Jewish Zionism and Christian Zionism in advancing this cause.

The point of convergence between Jewish and Christian Zionists was the drafting of a document that became known as the Balfour Declaration, which provided political legitimacy for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine.

▪️ Theodor Herzl brought Jewish representatives together for a conference in Basel, Switzerland. At this conference, they established the World Zionist Organization, and the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine was placed on the agenda.

After Herzl’s death, Chaim Weizmann assumed leadership of the World Zionist Organization and met with Arthur James Balfour, who was then the leader of Britain’s Conservative Party.
