🔻 American Evangelicalism, through its particular interpretation of the Bible, has had a significant influence on U.S. foreign policy. This movement, based on a literal interpretation of Scripture, seeks to interpret contemporary events—particularly those concerning the Jewish people in the land of Palestine—through biblical prophecies.

For this reason, it regards support for Israel not as a political choice, but as a message of the Gospel.

▪️ Accordingly, the key foundational components of this American ideology—which has now reached its peak under the Trump administration—can be outlined as follows:

1. God’s Covenant in the Bible

God’s covenant with Israel is eternal. Therefore, the promise of the land granted to the Jewish people—from the Nile to the Euphrates—can never be revoked.

The Church did not replace Israel, and despite the Israelites’ breach of the covenant, God’s covenant with the Jewish people was never annulled.

In fact, there are two valid covenants in the world: one is God’s covenant with Moses, and the other is God’s covenant with Jesus Christ. The New Covenant does not, in any way, invalidate the Old Covenant.

2. From the Church to the Divine Promise

God’s original purpose has been the “eternal salvation of Israel.” When the people of Israel failed to follow Jesus Christ, the Church emerged.

However, at the time of Christ’s return, the Church Age will come to an end. The monotheists will become united, and Israel will become the principal instrument for carrying out God’s purposes in the world.

3. Support for the Jewish People and Israel

Failure to support Israel will bring divine wrath and punishment. Christians must accept literally what is stated in the Book of Genesis concerning the people of Israel:

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.”

4. Events Preceding Christ’s Return

The prophecies contained in the Gospel do not merely refer to events that have already occurred throughout history; they also describe future events.

Dispensational Theology divides history into seven periods. American Zionism maintains that we are currently living in the sixth period—the gathering of the Jews in Palestine and the construction of Solomon’s Temple.

After that, with the return of Christ, the seventh period will begin: the thousand-year Messianic reign of peace.

Accordingly, human history is believed to undergo major stages and upheavals:

▪️ The Battle of Armageddon

5. Israel as the Fulfillment of Gospel Promises

Therefore, humanity should expect the collapse of civilizations, the rise of evil, the disappearance of peace and existing international arrangements, and a test of loyalty to Israel.

Most importantly, political alliances will determine the position of the forces of good in the decisive battle of Armageddon.

6. The “Geopolitical Consequences” of Evangelicalism for U.S. Foreign Policy

Axios, the well-known pro-establishment media outlet, has linked the pause to the talks held by an Omani delegation in Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz. By contrast, The New York Times has cited warnings from Trump’s senior advisers about dwindling U.S. stocks of interceptor missiles as the main factor.

Regardless of the accuracy of either explanation, the Omani delegation’s visit to Tehran did not take place without Washington’s coordination or at least its green light. However, it seems unlikely that the U.S. president would simply suspend the attacks while waiting for the outcome of the Tehran–Muscat talks.

The reality is that, under the current circumstances, Iran abandoning its management of the Strait of Hormuz is unlikely. Therefore, it is doubtful that such negotiations will, at least for now, produce an outcome that meets Washington’s expectations.

From this perspective, the suspension of U.S. attacks can be attributed above all to a form of strategic hesitation within the Trump administration, rooted in the absence of a clear plan for ending the current war while achieving meaningful strategic gains.

In other words, Trump has found himself in a situation where neither continuing the current pattern of warfare appears viable, nor would a decision to escalate the conflict and move into a new phase come without significant costs and risks.

For this reason, Trump is now deeply torn between two options.

5️⃣ The leverage surrounding the Epstein sexual-abuse case, a story that appears to have a long way to go.

6️⃣ The projection of an apocalyptic mission, along with the influence of Evangelicalism and Christian Zionism.

7️⃣ A strong need to win the support of the MAGA movement, built around the slogan “America First.”

8️⃣ A strong appetite for money and economic interests.

Among these factors, those that appear most likely to push Trump toward continuing the war are his gambler’s mentality and high risk tolerance, his psychological traits, his sense of an apocalyptic mission, and his susceptibility to Jewish influence.
