A Hindu temple restored by an English army man.

The British governed India for centuries, during which they constructed numerous churches and cathedrals. However, in the 1880s, an unusual event took place in Agar Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, where Lt Col Martin, an English officer, undertook the reconstruction of a Shiva temple, marking it as perhaps the only temple ever built by an Englishman in India.

Col Martin was involved in the Afghan wars and would often correspond with his wife back in India to keep her updated on his situation. As the war stretched on, his letters ceased, leading Mrs. Martin, who was stationed at the Agar Malwa cantonment, to be consumed by worry and despair. To find solace, Mrs. Martin took to long horse rides.

On one such ride, she passed by the Baijnath Mahadev Temple, which was then in a state of disrepair. The temple was alive with the sound of conches and mantras during an arti, which prompted her to stop and enter. Observing her evident distress, the temple priests inquired about her troubles. She shared her story, and the priests suggested she chant the mantra β€œOm Namah Shivaya” for 11 days, assuring her of Lord Shiva's benevolence in responding to heartfelt prayers.

The Englishwoman prayed to Lord Shiva for the colonel’s safe return, promising she would rebuild the temple if he came home safe from the war. On the 10th day, a messenger arrived from Afghanistan with a letter from her husband. It read, β€œI was regularly sending you letters from the battlefield but then suddenly the Pathans surrounded us. I thought there was no way of escape. Suddenly I saw an Indian yogi with long hair, wearing a tiger skin carrying a trident. He had an awe-inspiring personality and he started wielding his weapon against the Afghans who ran away from the field in fright. With his grace what was certain death our bad times turned into victory. Then the great yogi told me that I should not worry and that he had come to rescue me because he was very pleased with my wife’s prayers.”

Upon Col Martin's return, they shared this miraculous story, and both became ardent devotees of Lord Shiva. In 1883, they funded the renovation of the Baijnath Mahadev Temple with Rs 15,000, an act commemorated on a stone slab within the temple.

The Martins sailed for England with the firm resolution that they would make a Shiva temple at their home and pray to him till the end of life. And they did.

What is now known as Jama Masjid Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh is the ancient Hari Har temple that was captured and converted as Masjid by Hindu Beg a lieutenant of Babur. This is clearly recorded in Baburnama and Ain i Akbari , historical texts written by Mughal historians.

Muslim society shouldn't indulge in arson and riots thereby justifying the cruelty done by Islamic invaders centuries before. Instead should peacefully handover the temple back to Hindu society.

Hindu society should peacefully demand return of all ancient temples under Islamic occupation.

Attempts in full swing by encroachers and jihadis to block the restoration and revival of Cholakkara Durga temple by influencing the Malappuram district and Panchayat administration.

@UgraNarsimha
has given a letter to the Panchayat Secretary in this regard.

We have mapped 115 ancient monuments in Delhi.

Many of these ancient monuments are now attributed to Islamic invaders. There is a need for greater research and survey to identify the true nature.

The Jama Masjid of Budaun in Uttar Pradesh, also known as the Shamsi Shahi Masjid, has become yet another focal point of a heated historical debate, with a Hindu group claiming that the mosque was constructed atop the site of the ancient Nilkanth Mahadev Temple.
The matter draws heavily on historical records, including the Gazetteer of India Uttar Pradesh -- District Budaun. According to the document, the Shamsi Shahi Masjid was built on the remnants of a stone temple, with materials from the demolished temple reportedly used in the mosque's construction.

We have started reclaiming the land of Cholakkara Durga temple which was encroached after the temple was destroyed during the 1921 Moplah riots. We cannot wait for the unending litigation, appeals and adjournments in the Indian courts. So we are doing what is required in the interest of Dharma.

Your support will help us secure the temple, complete the pending restoration work and also deal with ongoing legal cases.

Narendra Modi and his govt has done in the past ten years, what Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been doing in the past hundred years - boasting about themselves without doing anything worthwhile for Hindu Samaj.

It's important that Hindu Samaj realise this and start working towards building capabilities and nurturing men and organisations who can fight against all odds in the interest of dharma.

Our civilisation is surviving due to accumulated good karma and sacrifice of our ancestors and the blessings of the Deities they worshipped.

And this won't last forever unless we do course correction, start worshipping our Gods, reclaim our temples, land and people, thereby defeating all our enemies and their belief systems.

One reason why Hindu society is failing miserably may be because its still fixated in Treta Yuga with Ram Rajya as ideal.

The days and ways of Kaliyuga and the traits to win here will be very different from the days of SriRama.

Due to invasions Hindu civilisation lost its temples, land and people.

The path to resurgence of our civilisation is therefore by reclaiming its temples, land and people. There should be no doubt about this, though there can be various views on how to achieve it.

The strategy to protect Hindu civilisation through political power has miserably failed as we can see in the past ten years. The situation has gone from bad to worse, with many people resigned to the idea that our civilisation will fail.

The implications of this would be that Bharat would turn into another Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Just like the partition migration, another migration will also happen once that happens. However that will be limited to the wealthy, powerful and the rich who will just shift to other nations where there is rule of law and justice.

A vast majority of Hindus will be brutalised the same way they are being subjected to now in Bangladesh.

The solution would be to open new fronts now, new strategies to counter this, which is geared towards clear results on the ground reflecting in our temples, land and people.

There is need for invocation of the Divine, the Gods of War who have blessed our great warriors as they indulged in extra ordinary wars in the interest of justice.
