Subject: Request for Reconsideration of Age Limit Criteria for SSC JE 2025 Recruitment

Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing to bring to your kind attention a significant concern regarding the recently released SSC JE 2025 notification, specifically with respect to the age limit and relaxation criteria.

On comparing the SSC JE 2025 advertisement with that of SSC JE 2024, a noticeable change has been observed:

In the SSC JE 2024 notification, the cut-off date for age reckoning was 01-08-2024, whereas in SSC JE 2025, it has been advanced to 01-01-2026.

Due to this shift, the permissible date of birth range has also changed significantly, rendering many previously eligible aspirants ineligible this year.

For instance, candidates born before 02-01-1996 (for age limit 30 years) and 02-01-1994 (for age limit 32 years) are now ineligible, which was not the case for SSC JE 2024 (where the limits were 02-08-1994 and 02-08-1992 respectively).


Additionally, the age relaxation norms remain the same across both years, but the advancement of the age reckoning date effectively reduces the actual benefit of age relaxations for candidates belonging to reserved categories or ex-servicemen.

This sudden change has created confusion and distress among many aspiring candidates who had been preparing sincerely for this examination based on the earlier precedent. A large number of candidates are now unable to apply despite being eligible just last year.

Therefore, I humbly request the Commission to kindly consider the following:

1. Revising the age cut-off date to bring it in line with previous years (i.e., 01-08-2025 or similar), or


2. Extending the permissible date of birth range accordingly to ensure consistency and fairness across recruitment cycles.



Such a step will ensure that deserving and hardworking candidates are not denied an opportunity due to a technical change in date reckoning, and it will uphold the fairness and inclusivity for which the SSC is known.

I hope the Commission will consider this representation sympathetically and issue a clarification or corrigendum in this regard.
