The untimely death of Dr. Maryam Mirzakhani, one of the most accomplished female mathematicians in the world, is a painful loss. This news saddened those who find Maryam as an iron-willed and resolute role model.

Maryam Mirzakhani, obtained her Bachelors and Masters of Science in Mathematics from Sharif University of Technology, and her PhD in Mathematics from Harvard university. She gave back to the science community as a full professor and researcher at Stanford University. In her short but fruitful life, she worked on some of the most sophisticated math problems; her proposed solutions for those problems could have impacts on a broad spectrum of issues from understanding the existence of our universe to engineering and material science.

SUTA DC offers its deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and those who were inspired by her works and beautiful being. She shall stay as a role model for young souls, specially women, who are working towards making a better future for the world.

SUTA DC is planning to organize a memorial tribute to Dr. Mirzakhani in July 29th at George Washington university. More details about this event will be provided very soon.
