ونص القرار على أن تشتمل مهام المركز على تصميم الحقائب التدريبية وبرامج التأهيل المهني بالتعاون مع القطاعات المختصة لرفع الكفاءة اللغوية والمهنية لمعلمي ومعلمات اللغة الإنجليزية، والإسهام في تطوير معايير تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية والمحتوى التعليمي والمنتجات والخدمات الشاملة الأخرى في مجال تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية، إضافة إلى دعم تحسين الكفاءة اللغوية للطلاب في مجال اللغة وتحقيق متطلبات مؤسسات التعليم العالي وسوق العمل .
كما جاء فيه أن يقوم المركز بتبني مبادرات متميزة وشراكات تعليمية محلية ودولية متخصصة للرقي بمستوى الطالب، وإيجاد بيئات تعليمية جاذبة لدعم تعليم وتعلم اللغة الإنجليزية، وإجراء الدراسات والبحوث التطويرية في مجال تعليم وتعلم اللغة الإنجليزية ، وإقامة ورش العمل وحلقات النقاش، والندوات العلمية المتخصصة .
