🔘 FUCT

What does FUCT stand for?

◻️Failed under continuous testing

When something isn't working despite numerous attempts, you can label it as "FUCT." The acronym stands for "failed under continuous testing" and also makes sense phonetically.

People typically use FUCT online in forums when discussing the viability of a project, whether it be a developer creating a website or a dude in his garage building a go-kart. For example, if you are seeking guidance on a DIY house project and your electrical wiring job is not working, you might say it has "FUCT."

❓Example
This source code has FUCT and I don't know how to fix it.
Can you upload it so I can take a look?
Yeah, thx.

🔘 DND

What does DND stand for?

◻️Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is a popular tabletop role-playing game (RPG) that allows players to imagine themselves as fantasy characters adventuring within a fantastic world. First published in 1974, DnD (also known as D&D) remains the best-known and best-selling tabletop RPG.

To play, a number of players (usually three to five) sit down together and create player characters (PCs). These characters act as the players' in-game avatars, who begin journeying (via spoken word) through a world created by the game's Dungeon Master (DM). Together, the players and their Dungeon Master craft a story in which the players' characters either overcome or are defeated by the challenges the Dungeon Master has created.

Dungeons & Dragons has endured a number of highs and lows throughout its history. In the 1980s, the so-called "Satanic Panic" saw parents attempting to link the game to devil worship and Satanism. However, the game's reputation recovered from these accusations, and in the late 2010s and early 2020s, D&D gained in popularity thanks to its appearance in the Netflix show Stranger Things and the rise of actual play podcasts and videos. Due to its increased pop culture profile and the proliferation of online D&D-playing tools, such as Roll20.net and DnDBeyond.com, Dungeons & Dragons may be more popular now than it has ever been.

❓Example
Sorry, I can't make it to mini-golf Weds. That's my DnD night.

🔘 Buzzkill

What is a buzzkill?

◻️Something that spoils a good mood

Buzzkill is when something abruptly ruins the good mood or vibe others are experiencing. For example, if a group of friends is having fun hanging out, and one of the friends reminds everyone that every heartbeat brings them closer to death, the friends might say, "Thanks for the buzzkill, Todd."

The term is well known, with people using it in just about every context, including in person, in messages, and online. Even if accidental, buzzkills are always a bummer and may come in various shapes and sizes. For example, an insult, a revealed secret, the arrival of a guest, or lousy weather all qualify as buzzkills.

Origin of buzzkill

It is unclear who first coined the slang term "buzzkill." But the word dates back to the early 1990s (at least) and comes from the purposeful or accidental killing of a high (often referred to as a "buzz").

❓Example
Who invited Jeff to the party?
IDK, but he's the biggest buzzkill.
Last time I got stuck listening to his earwax story for 20 minutes.

🔘 Cap

What does cap mean?

◻️Lie
Cap means "lie" or "false." The slang term gained popularity in 2018 as an alternative to the No cap term, which means "For real" or "No lie."

While Cap became somewhat popular in 2018, it gained a lot more exposure in May 2019 when NBA superstar Kevin Durant used it in a tweet accusing reporter Chris Broussard of lying about texting with him. People may also use "cap" in the context of "busting a cap," which means shooting a gun with the intent to kill a person.

🔘 PeepoSad

What does peepoSad mean on Twitch?

◻️I'm sad

Twitch viewers use peepoSad to express their sadness or disappointment. This term, and the emote with which it is associated, is one of many that stem from an edited image of Pepe the Frog.

Origin of peepoSad
The original Peepo was a fan-drawn recreation of Pepe the Frog that first appeared on imageboards in the late 2010s. Eventually, netizens began using Peepo (or Pepo) to refer to any edited version of Pepe.
Thus, when Twitch users began creating edited, expressive Pepe emotes (used as shorthand for different reactions), they assigned them names like peepoCheer, peepoHappy, and peepoSad. The peepoSad emote, specifically, features an image of Pepe crying.

🔘 Stunad

What is a stunad?

◻️An unintelligent person

A "stunad" is a person who lacks common sense (otherwise known as "stupid" or even "crazy"). It is a derogatory term people (typically Italians) may utter when annoyed by someone making stupid decisions.

For example, if your brother borrows money from you and gambles it away, you might say, "I can't believe I lent that stunad any money." Or, if your friend gets hit by a reckless driver, she might exclaim, "That stunad nearly killed me because she was texting and driving!"

Origin of stunad

The slang term "stunad" originates from Italian-American immigrants. Stunad (or "stunod") comes from "stonato" (or "stunat" or "stunatu" depending on the language variation), an Italian word for "out of tune." It became slang for people who were out of tune with the rest of the world, whether it be in an unintelligent or crazy manner.

❓Example

🔘 Manspreader

What does manspreader mean?

◻️A guy who sits with his legs spread wide

A manspreader is a male who sits with his legs spread in a very wide stance. He is commonly seen on a subway, bus, airplane, and park bench.

Manspreaders may sound harmless but can wreak havoc in many ways. One of the biggest negatives of a manspreader is when space is at a premium, such as a busy restaurant or subway car, and his wide stance prevents others from sitting down. Public campaigns have been launched to increase awareness of this epidemic but many men have staunchly defended their position citing male biological reasons.

❓Example
These manspreaders have to be stopped! I counted at least 3 people that couldn't sit on the bench at the bus stop.

🔘 Deinfluencing

What is deinfluencing on social media?

◻️Telling social media users what not to do

Deinfluencing is a trend on social media where influencers share what not to do (typically what not to purchase) with their followers. For example, an influencer may have a bad experience with a car rental service and share it with their followers, deinfluencing them to go with that service.

You will likely see deinfluencing on social sites like Instagram and TikTok. The posts often consist of a video of an influencer revealing an awful experience with a product, debunking the hype around a product, or sharing an overview of several products and outlining what not to buy.

Origin of deinfluencing

The origins of the "deinfluencing" trend are unclear, but it began in early February 2023. Some claim that deinfluencing is a direct response to the sponsored content (sponcon) influencers often push. For many Gen Zers and millennials, the influencer culture has grown stale, and they want more honest content, which includes what not to buy or try.

❓Example
Deinfluencing is a breath of fresh air on TikTok.

They are still telling you what to do. They'll have to deactivate their social media to really start deinfluencing.

🔘 GG

What does GG stand for in online gaming?

◻️Good game

GG is commonly used in online gaming, such as chess or Starcraft to say "good game." It is often typed at the end of a match to congratulate the other player.
GG (usually typed "gg") is considered a respectful way to end a match rather than simply surrendering. In some cases, "gg wp" (good game, well played) might be used to show extra respect to the opponent.

In pro leagues, players often type gg and then immediately surrender.

However, in lower leagues, the winning opponent is often given a chance to type "gg" in response. Typing "gg" and then still trying to win the game is considered bad esports etiquette.

🔘 Subs

What is subs short for on Twitch?

◻️Subscribers
On Twitch, subs is short for "subscribers." Viewers can subscribe (or "sub") to a Twitch Affiliate or Partner's channel to provide that streamer with financial support and gain subs-only perks.
Subs subscribe to their favorite streamers' channels, most often at the price of $4.99 per month. In return for their subscription, subs receive unique emotes and badges, access to subs-only chat channels, and other exclusive benefits.
Because streamers earn money for each sub they acquire, they often run promotions that encourage normal viewers to become subs. If you're ready to become a sub, click the Subscribe button that appears below a streamer's stream. If you're not ready to become a sub but still want to show a streamer your support, you can always toss them a dono.
(You Tubers also often refer to their subscribers as subs. They may also refer to the platform's Subscriptions feed as the Subs feed.)

🔘 Marinating

What does marinating mean in Among Us?

◻️Gaining a Crewmate's trust and then killing them
In Among Us, an Imposter who is marinating a Crewmate is attempting to gain that Crewmate's trust, so the Crewmate will vouch for the Imposter during eliminations. Imposters sometimes marinate a Crewmate in long games, in which there is time to both gain a Crewmate's trust in the early game and exploit that trust in the late game.
Specifically, an Imposter marinates a Crewmate by sticking close to that Crewmate during the early stages of a game. The best marinations involve an Imposter staging at least one scenario in which it would be easy to kill the Crewmate without any other Crewmates noticing, thereby "proving" the Imposter's innocence.
If an Imposter successfully marinates a Crewmate, that Crewmate will assert the Imposter's innocence and likely even vote with the Imposter during eliminations. The Imposter, of course, will also assert the Crewmate's innocence, further strengthening the deadly bond between marinator and marinatee.

❓Example
Can't you see that Toast is just marinating you? He does it all the time!
