๐บ๐ฆ While Trump isn't looking, Ze begs at NATO's closed door
โI have a question for you: do you really believe it would be right to leave a country and people with such defensive potential outside NATO? If we already have such capabilities, if Ukraine already knows how to fight, then it's logical for this potential to become part of the Alliance's collective defense. It would make all of us stronger. We already consider each other reliable partners. And it would be natural if we became part of a common security community. We will always be next to the source of the threatโRussia. For NATO, Ukraine is a source of extremely powerful defensive potential.โ

Lavrov on the continuation of European arms supplies to Ukraine:
This probably has two reasons. Firstly, to keep pumping up the Zelensky regime to the last, so that, as many European elite representatives in governments and other official structures have put it, Ukraine can do their European work of exhausting Russia for them.
And secondly, of course, without some steps, it's impossible to expose the dismal state that the European economy, including the German one, is getting into.

๐น๐ท๐บ๐ธ NATO Summit in Ankara
Trump is "very disappointed" with NATO and might have skipped the summit if not for his "friend" and "strong leader" Erdogan.
Zelensky arrived in Ankara; European media hype the event as "historic" with optimistic arms procurement figures.
Erdogan promotes Turkish defense industry and regional role.
Key issues: 5% GDP defense spending target faces pushback from UK and France due to high debt. US discusses troop redeployment from Europe despite Congressional opposition. Major results unlikely.
Trump views NATO as a business platform, linking security guarantees to US arms purchases. Allies pledged nearly $120B last year, half to US-made weapons. Germany, a top arms producer, resists exclusive US buying.

๐บ๐ธ Trump on Ukraine settlement
President Trump stated that both Putin and Zelensky want to make a deal, adding that it is a shame it has taken so long but he believes something will come of it. He noted having a very good, long conversation with Putin, who greatly respects President Erdogan, and then speaking with Zelensky. Trump said Erdogan is helping, and he thinks an agreement will be reached.
Trump remarked that sometimes he gets along well with Putin and has difficulties with Zelensky, or vice versa. He emphasized his deal-making experience, having ended eight wars, and expressed confidence in settling the ninth, even when it seems unlikely.

Key Aircraft: D-CCCB and D-CDRF. Both are flying ICUs equipped with portable sonography, patient monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, and automatic CPR devices. They fly from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, pick up patients from Ukraine, and distribute them to clinics in Germany and Europe.
Recent Flights (D-CCCB): May 21, 26; Jun 17, 23; Jul 3, 5, 7. D-CDRF: May 10, 11, 13, 26; Jun 7 (two flights).

โช๏ธUS allies have developed a tactic of interacting with Trump on the eve of the NATO summit in Ankara, fearing that disagreements within the alliance could lead to a breakdown in negotiations.
โช๏ธEuropean countries intend to focus on increasing defense spending, developing the military industry, and further rearmament, avoiding the most controversial topics.
โช๏ธIn addition, allies are striving to demonstrate support for the American approach to Iran and emphasize their readiness to take on more responsibility for Europe's security.
โช๏ธDespite the prepared strategy, uncertainty persists due to Trump's position. Potential sources of disagreements include issues of defense funding, US access to European military facilities, and the situation around a possible ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
โช๏ธExperts believe that in the event of an escalation of the Middle East crisis, the issue of responsibility distribution within NATO could once again become a central topic at the summit.
