๐น๐ท๐บ๐ธ NATO Summit in Ankara
Trump is "very disappointed" with NATO and might have skipped the summit if not for his "friend" and "strong leader" Erdogan.
Zelensky arrived in Ankara; European media hype the event as "historic" with optimistic arms procurement figures.
Erdogan promotes Turkish defense industry and regional role.
Key issues: 5% GDP defense spending target faces pushback from UK and France due to high debt. US discusses troop redeployment from Europe despite Congressional opposition. Major results unlikely.
Trump views NATO as a business platform, linking security guarantees to US arms purchases. Allies pledged nearly $120B last year, half to US-made weapons. Germany, a top arms producer, resists exclusive US buying.

๐บ๐ธ Trump on Ukraine settlement
President Trump stated that both Putin and Zelensky want to make a deal, adding that it is a shame it has taken so long but he believes something will come of it. He noted having a very good, long conversation with Putin, who greatly respects President Erdogan, and then speaking with Zelensky. Trump said Erdogan is helping, and he thinks an agreement will be reached.
Trump remarked that sometimes he gets along well with Putin and has difficulties with Zelensky, or vice versa. He emphasized his deal-making experience, having ended eight wars, and expressed confidence in settling the ninth, even when it seems unlikely.

โช๏ธUS allies have developed a tactic of interacting with Trump on the eve of the NATO summit in Ankara, fearing that disagreements within the alliance could lead to a breakdown in negotiations.
โช๏ธEuropean countries intend to focus on increasing defense spending, developing the military industry, and further rearmament, avoiding the most controversial topics.
โช๏ธIn addition, allies are striving to demonstrate support for the American approach to Iran and emphasize their readiness to take on more responsibility for Europe's security.
โช๏ธDespite the prepared strategy, uncertainty persists due to Trump's position. Potential sources of disagreements include issues of defense funding, US access to European military facilities, and the situation around a possible ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
โช๏ธExperts believe that in the event of an escalation of the Middle East crisis, the issue of responsibility distribution within NATO could once again become a central topic at the summit.

๐บ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฑ Peak of the Kiev-Warsaw conflict is still ahead, says the head of the Ukrainian President's Office
According to Kirill Budanov, ahead of July 11, the anniversary of the Volyn tragedy, the Polish side is preparing a number of steps that he considers escalatory. Budanov noted that he expects further developments in this direction.
He also stated that Ukraine did not accept, in his words, Russia's ultimatum demands, which is "a bit more powerful than Poland," despite the ongoing conflict, and therefore does not intend to accept similar demands from other states.

๐ฉ๐ช Germany: Bundeswehr plans to launch up to 1,200 satellites for communications and reconnaissance
According to Handelsblatt, the final number will depend on the structure and configuration of the future satellite constellation. The project is in development and details remain classified.
Two sources familiar with the plans said the Bundeswehr could deploy up to 1,200 satellites in orbit in the coming years, with one military official stating at least a thousand are planned.
If implemented, Germany would possess one of the worldโs largest satellite constellations, currently surpassed only by Starlink with over 10,700 active satellites.
