🇪🇺🇬🇧 EU to allow Ukraine to use European loans for UK arms purchases

The EU will permit Ukraine to use funds from a €60 billion European program to buy British weapons, Bloomberg reports citing sources. An official announcement may come next week during a meeting in Paris.

The European Commission plans to require UK government co-financing for each contract if Ukraine requests to use European funds for purchases from British manufacturers. This mechanism would allow British defense firms to join the support program on condition of London's financial participation in each project.

Previously, the EC clarified that the military financing program includes a "buy European" clause, and only if needed weapons are unavailable in Europe can the Commission grant Ukraine the right to order them from other countries.
