🚀 Launch update: NASA and SpaceX now are targeting 01:16 UTC Nov. 8, for launch of the company’s 29th commercial resupply services mission to the ISS.

The additional time allows for completion of final prelaunch processing ahead of liftoff of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and cargo Dragon spacecraft.

👥 IFT-2 Launch Prediction Update

Following the recent completion of a major milestone in the FAA's licence review, our sources both public and private point towards the earliest possible launch date now being November 13th.

We have reason to believe the licence will be granted in the coming days. This would still fall within the windows suggested by the LNM we mentioned previously.

Meanwhile Ship 25 has been stacked back onto Booster 9. Keep in mind this date is still unofficial and marks the earliest expected window.

The second flight test of a fully integrated Starship could launch as soon as mid-November, pending regulatory approval → http://spacex.com/

SpaceX's statement:
The second flight test of a fully integrated Starship could launch as soon as mid-November, pending regulatory approval.

A live webcast of the flight test will begin about 30 minutes before liftoff, which you can watch on our website and on Twitter. As is the case with all developmental testing, the schedule is dynamic and likely to change, so be sure to stay tuned to our Twitter account for updates.

Starship’s first flight test provided numerous lessons learned that directly contributed to several upgrades to both the vehicle and ground infrastructure to improve the probability of success on future flights. The second flight test will debut a hot-stage separation system and a new electronic Thrust Vector Control (TVC) system for Super Heavy Raptor engines, in addition to reinforcements to the pad foundation and a water-cooled steel flame deflector, among many other enhancements.

This rapid iterative development approach has been the basis for all of SpaceX’s major innovative advancements, including Falcon, Dragon, and Starlink. Recursive improvement is essential as we work to build a fully reusable transportation system capable of carrying both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, help humanity return to the Moon, and ultimately travel to Mars and beyond.

Flight Termination System (FTS) was installed on Booster 9 and Starship 25. The FTS consists of a series of controlled explosives responsible for destroying the vehicles in case of major anomalies.

It's important to note the FTS is not armed at this time. It will be armed before the final restack for launch.

🗓 We believe the FAA could have already silently issued the licence for Starship's IFT-2.

We've observed crews installing the Flight Termination System (FTS) today and the previous launch licence states a licence is required for FTS installation. It's possible the new licence has been issued and is being used to do this.

However, there is also speculation that this FTS Installation was technically authorised by the previous licence, but the activity itself is a strong sign.

We're patiently waiting for an official announcement and hope the test flight can happen very soon now.

A new FCC filing for a future Starship flight (possibly IFT-3) suggests Starlink communication even through Starship entry.
"SpaceX intends to demonstrate high-data-rate communications with the Starship spacecraft and the Super Heavy booster on the ground at the launch site in Starbase, TX, during launch, in-flight operations, booster recovery, and spacecraft entry."

The filing also points out that during this particular Starship flight, after apogee it will conduct a powered landing in the Indian Ocean
"The orbital Starship spacecraft will continue on its path to an altitude of approximately 235 km before performing a powered, targeted landing in the Indian Ocean"
