Indian equities are already contending with a range of domestic market pressures. Uncertainty surrounding Donald Trump's tariff decisions, higher crude oil prices and bond yields, along with sustained foreign institutional investor (FII) selling, has pushed the Sensex and Nifty down. In this environment, investors are watching the US midterm elections for clues about their possible impact on global financial markets.
Gold price prediction today: The midterm results have changed the mood this week. Democrats are projected to win both the House and the Senate, which markets read as lowering the odds of a deficit-expanding agenda. The 10-year Treasury yield fell six basis points to 4.90%, the dollar weakened as much as 0.4%, its biggest fall in two months, and gold rose as much as 0.9% to above $3,960.
The unfavourable midterm election outcome is unlikely to prompt President Donald Trump to change course on trade, according to an analysis by Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI). Trump is now likely to use his executive authority to push India towards an early agreement that opens up the Indian market to American agricultural and industrial products, while securing other significant concessions for US businesses.
