After spending 606 days in prison, former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters says she is grateful to finally be free - but insists her fight is far from over.
“It’s been quite the ordeal,” Tina Peters said, thanking God, her supporters, attorneys, friends, and family for helping her endure what she described as the loss of her liberty.
Even after receiving clemency from Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Peters says she remains determined to clear her name and uncover what she believes is the truth behind her prosecution.
“I still have a fight to go. I still have a fight to clear my name and bring out the truth of why they came after me the way they did.”
For now, Peters says she plans to spend the next few weeks focusing on her health and reconnecting with loved ones after nearly two years behind bars.
“I'm just very, very grateful.”
