My name is Dr. Faisza Abdul Aziz, an Emergency Physician from Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru, Malaysia. I am currently conducting a research study as part of an initiative to strengthen emergency preparedness and improve community response to cardiac emergencies in Malaysia.

You are warmly invited to participate in the following research study:

### "Knowledge, Awareness, Perceptions, and Willingness to Perform Bystander Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Among Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor Students: A Cross-Sectional Study."

## ❤️ Why Is This Study Important?

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) can happen to anyone, at any time, and anywhere.

When cardiac arrest occurs, every second counts. Immediate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) performed by a bystander before the arrival of emergency medical services (EMS) can double or even quadruple a person's chance of survival.

Despite its proven benefits, the rate of bystander CPR in Malaysia remains relatively low. Limited knowledge, lack of confidence, and low public awareness are among the key barriers preventing people from taking action during emergencies.

This study aims to assess the knowledge, awareness, perceptions, and willingness of UTM Johor students to perform bystander CPR. The findings will contribute to strengthening CPR education programmes, improving emergency preparedness within university communities, and supporting national efforts to increase bystander CPR participation and save more lives.

❌ Students enrolled in Medicine or Health Sciences programmes are not eligible for this study.

The Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Foundation was established in 1986 by Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng (1921–1993) to carry forward his lifelong commitment to philanthropy. The Foundation upholds our
Founder’s legacy of giving back to society, with a strong emphasis on education andexpanding access to learning opportunities to the less privileged.

Each year, the Foundation awards educational scholarships annually to deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue tertiary education and create a better future for themselves. We have an alumni of approximately 650 scholars to date, pursuing a variety of different careers.

𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐔𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏
 Diploma: RM7,500 per academic year
 Degree: RM11,000 – RM12,000 per academic year (subject to course)
Who is eligible?

𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐀
When considering each application, the Management Committee of the Foundation will take
into account:
• the applicant’s financial position
• academic achievements
• attributes which indicate that the applicant is likely to become a contributing citizen
• personal qualities and character like leadership, initiative, determination, responsibility or
kindness, and how they have been demonstrated
• achievements in non-curricular activities including sports; and/or community involvements
and activities
• the completeness of the form filled and personal statement, completeness of documents
detailing financial background
• preference given to applicants attending local public universities and tertiary institutions
Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Foundation has obtained tax exemption status from Ketua Pengarah Hasil Dalam Negeri "KPHDN" for a 10-year period from 1 Jan 2026 until 31 Dec 2035.

𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆:
 Be a Malaysian citizen and resident
 Show financial need for the scholarship support
 Fulfil the academic and other conditions required in taking up a place at one of the local public universities or tertiary institutions
 Obtain good academic results for Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
 Possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.80 and above for undergraduates who are currently studying in local colleges/universities
 Willing to give up scholarship/study loan from any other organisation and take up the TSLLSF Scholarship only
