It has been a busy weekend. Ryan had his homecoming. Mike and I also spoke in church and it was my birthday! 🎂
The senate should absolutely not be vacationing while America is at such a perilous time in our history. Will we be able to secure our elections? Whichever path we take will have profound ramifications. Let us pray we take the path of a sound Constitutional Republic with elections that can be verified.

This current talking point is so important. I shared it today with State Auditor Tina Cannon. She was very interested to learn about this section of our Utah Constitution. Our Utah founders were very astute to anticipate the danger of handing governmental powers over to appointed boards like MIDA. Everyone needs to copy and paste this talking point and text it to their state legislators. We must correct this in the next legislative session.

Talking Point for 7/6 - 7/18! Please send to state legislators.

The Utah Constitution Article VI, Section 28 is titled Special Privileges Forbidden: "The Legislature shall not delegate to any special commission, private corporation or association, any power to make, supervise or interfere with any municipal improvement, money, property or effects, whether held in trust or otherwise, to levy taxes, to select a capitol site, or to perform any municipal functions." This provision is a structural safeguard designed to prevent the Legislature from handing over core governmental powers to unelected or narrowly created bodies. This is precisely what has happened with MIDA.
Mike and I went to the show Harmony tonight at Hale Theater. It said that Barry Manilow's music was used. I thought it was his hit songs that had been used to create a musical. We started watching the show and there weren't any of his songs. I thought to myself that they must still be coming. As the play went on it was about Germany and the Nazis taking over. I started getting the feeling his songs weren't coming after all. I found out he helped write the songs for this musical, but they weren't his famous ones.
The show was very interesting and it was based on a true story. The people that performed were so talented. The Comedian Harmonists were a group of six men that sang together and became very popular in Germany as Hitler was rising to power. Three of the group were Jews. The tragic part of the story is that the group came to America and performed. They were offered a deal to stay in America. They argued about what they should do and ultimately decided to return to Germany. That was a very unfortunate decision.
The tragedy of war is more than I can bare.
John Hancock signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was a childhood friend of John Adams. His uncle Thomas Hancock was a successful but childless merchant in Boston, so he and his wife took Hancock to raise at their own son, making the boy heir to the merchant riches of the House of Hancock.
Fact about MIDA (Military Installation Development Authority)
MIDA can create its own appeals board for GRAMA requests. MIDA can say no to an initial GRAMA request and then make its own appeals board so it can so no again. That is not transparency.
Don't miss this amazing class by Rep Ken Ivory. They are on Thursday evening.
I am excited to hear from President Trump tomorrow night! I hope everyone can tune in.
I met with Rep Jackie Larson today. She is the new rep for leg district 64. She is going to be amazing. Her husband is a multi-generational farmer. I am excited to work with her on important issues that impact the tax payers.
Please call the senate switchboard and ask to be transferred to Sen John Thune's office. Leave him a message and tell him that the senate cannot go into summer recess unless the Save America Act is passed! You can also leave a message for John Curtis and tell him the same thing! I left my messages this evening.

President Trump's Religious Liberty Commission report cites twelve ways to strengthen religious liberty for all Americans.

One of these instructs the Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, to create religious liberty violation reporting hotlines/online portals.

My oldest son Ryan and I went to the new Utah Museum. It is located in the new northern building of the Capitol complex. The museum emphasizes that Utahns have a legacy of hard work and industry by those that settled Utah.
