Here are more pics from the Salt Lake parade yesterday!
My boys enjoyed the jeeps!
I was sent this picture from the Sand Hollow area. This message is accurate. If you buy in a Public infrastructure District you are going to pay more. You will have a tax that is in addition to your property tax. Don't believe for one minute any developer that says PIDs will save the homeowners money. That is false. PIDs are a gift to the developer and very bad for the homeowners that buy in those areas.
This is an important ruling in Illinois that found in-state tuition and other benefits for illegal aliens unconstitutional.

Judge David W. Dugan denied the defendants’ motion to dismiss and granted (in part) the United States’ cross-motion for summary judgment. He declared certain Illinois laws providing in-state tuition, state financial aid/scholarships (RISE Act), and DREAM Fund benefits unconstitutional and invalid as applied to aliens not lawfully present in the United States, because they conflict with 8 U.S.C. § 1623(a) and thus violate the Supremacy Clause.
Just imagine if President Trump weren't in office.
Very important meeting!
This is what I texted my house rep this evening:

Hi Ray,
It was fun to see you in the Bountiful parade. I volunteered at the park after. I about melted by the time I got home. 🥵
This is an interesting working paper from the Federal Reserve that found that approximately 30% of the increase in the price of homes was from illegal immigration. So that is definitely a place we can start with to work on the price of homes. We don't want Utah to be a magnet state for illegals. We can work on in-state tuition and all Utah State home ownership programs must have a citizenship requirement like First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program (New Construction / SB 240).
Please communicate with your legislators. They have got to hear from us on illegal immigration!
This handcart was pulled across the plains to Utah. It is in the new Utah Museum at the state capitol.
Call 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected with Senator John Curtis's office and tell him you don't want the senate to take an August recess unless the Save America Act is passed! I made my call this evening. You can also be connected to John Thune the senate majority leader and tell him to pass the Save America Act!
This is one of the programs Utah has to help get first time home owners into houses. There is no citizenship requirement. Our talking point this week points out that illegal immigration has increased home prices by approximately 30%.

First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program (New Construction / SB 240)Created by the Utah Legislature (Senate Bill 240), this provides up to $20,000 specifically for newly constructed (never-inhabited) homes.

The D.C. Circuit ruled to not stop Trump's executive order about securing elections. This is a positive win for now!

The D.C. Circuit (in a unanimous per curiam order issued July 28, 2026, in DSCC v. Donald Trump, No. 26-5193) affirmed a district court’s denial of a preliminary injunction that Democratic plaintiffs (including the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee) sought against President Trump’s Executive Order 14,399.

That March 31, 2026, executive order directed agencies including the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), the Department of Homeland Security, and others to develop new rules and procedures related to mail voting (and broader election-integrity measures) for the upcoming midterms and future elections.
My niece got married today! I wish them the best as they move forward to this chapter of their lives.
Fact about the Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA).

In Utah statute 63H-1-207 (3)(b) it says if UDOT sells certain highway land to MIDA, UDOT must turn around and give the money right back to MIDA. This is not what normally happens!

The code goes on to say that this money given back to MIDA must be used to facilitate transportation within that piece of land. This benefits the developers because normally they would have to fund those roads etc themselves.

Outside of that special MIDA exception, sale proceeds from UDOT highway land are treated as public money that flows into the state’s Transportation Fund.

This is another example of public money being used to develop land, but ALL the profits go to the developers.
