JoSAA 2022: As per the recent updates, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority has launched the JoSAA 2022 website. With this it is expected that JoSAA counselling 2022 schedule will also be released soon at the official website - josaa.nic.in. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will hold the Joint Seat allocation for admissions. The complete JoSAA counselling schedule will soon be issued online.

For the academic year 2022-23, there will be 114 institutes including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 33 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). All the JEE Main and Advanced qualifiers will be eligible for JoSAA counselling registration. According to the JEE Advanced dates, the registration process will commence on 12th September.
How To Do JoSAA 2022 Registration & Fill Choices?
Candidates who qualify for the JEE Main or JEE Advanced must register for JoSAA 2022 to participate in the counselling and admission process. To do so, candidates will have to go to the official website of JoSAA 2022 at josaa.nic.in. On the homepage, they need to click on the registration link and complete the same by entering all the details. After completing the JoSAA registration 2022, candidates need to fill the choice of courses and colleges. They can apply for the courses and colleges as per preferences, eligibility, and qualifications (JEE Main or JEE Advanced).
What after JoSAA Counselling Registration 2022?
After successful registration, the JoSAA seat allotment result will be announced. candidates will be allotted seats based on their JEE Main/JEE Advanced merit, preferences, category and availability of seats. The allotted candidates have to download their provisional allotment letter and pay the seat acceptance fee (as prescribed). After the fee is paid, the candidates will have to verify their documents at the Reporting Centre (RC).
What is JoSAA?
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admissions to all these institutes is done through a single platform. The Joint seat allocation process was introduced to make the whole process of admissions smoother, effective, efficient, transparent and a lot faster.

The registration process and choice filling for academic programs under JoSAA will begin on September 12, 2022 at 10 am. The candidates who qualify the Architecture Aptitude Test can fill their AAT-specific choices starting from September 17, 2022 after declaration of AAT result.

The mock seat allocation 1 will be displayed on the choices filled by candidates on September 18, 2022 and mock seat allocation 2 will release on September 20, 2022. The registration and choice filling for academic programs under JoSAA ends on September 21, 2022.

The JoSAA Business Rules 2021 Document mentions the qualifying exams for various institutes that admit students on the basis of the qualifying marks secured by the candidates in them. For JoSAA Counselling 2021, admission to IITs will be granted on the basis of JEE Advanced 2021 All India Rank of the Candidate. On the other hand, Other institutes i.e. NIT+ (NITs, IIEST, IIITs (Triple-I-Ts) and Other-GFTIs) will consider JEE Main 2021 All India Rank for the admission process.


Also, after qualifying in respective exams, candidates are required to register for JoSAA Counselling 2021 process through the official portal and choose the institutes and courses in which they seek seats. The document says that “The academic programs, along with the category-wise intake capacity, will be announced on the online portal https://josaa.nic.in.”

IIT Bombay releases important points for JoSAA

In the past few years, several students have lost an opportunity to join top engineering colleges of the country just because they failed to completely understand how the admission process works. From not sharing your login id and password to keeping track of the schedule, from moving forward in the online admission process to paying the fees. The Organizing Chairman of JEE (Advanced), Suryanarayana Doolla who is also a member of the 

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) committee shared important pointers pertaining to these aspects.

It is very important to note that the seat allocation process of IITs and NIT+ system (NIT+ system includes NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and IISET) is a complete online system with no manual intervention except for certificate verification, which is also online.

· Your future – Be responsible for the choices you make

o The candidate is solely responsible for any changes made in the portal in their account

o There were incidents where candidate(s) shared the login credentials with friends/parents/relatives etc and they altered the choices leading to candidate not getting the seat he/she deserves.

· Upload valid certificates at the time of registration

o Keep the pdf version of all your certificates ready and upload them at the time of registration for the seat allocation process.

o These are the same/updated version of the certificates you may have uploaded during the registration for JEE (Main)/JEE (Advanced)

o In case of OBC-NCL/EWS category candidates, the valid certificate issued must be on/after April 01, 2022.

o Submission of invalid certificates shall lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.

· DO NOT SHARE your login credentials

o Do not share your user-id and password with anyone

o Keep your mobile number handy. The mobile number you have used for JEE (Main) registration will be useful for generation of OTP for resetting the password, change of choices, etc.

· Keep track of the schedule of seat allocation on the JoSAA website

o It is important that the candidates familiarize themselves with the schedule posted on the official JoSAA website.

o Don’t forget to check the status of seat allocation immediately after each round.

o If you notice any discrepancy, bring it to the notice of authorities by sending email to josaa2022@iitb.ac.in immediately

· How to accept an allotted seat?

o Choose an option (Freeze/Float/Slide)

o Upload the certificates

o Pay the fee

o Report online and respond to queries in a timely manner

· Choose an option [Freeze/Float/Slide]

o Understand these terms carefully.

o Freeze: Use this option if you are happy with the both the institute AND the academic program that has been allotted to you.

o Float: Use this option if you want to move to a different institute and/or program from your list (only higher preference).

o Slide: Use this option if you are happy with the Institute you have been offered a seat and hopeful to get a better seat within the same institute.

o Whenever a seat is allotted, you MUST pick one of the options i.e., Freeze/Float/Slide. If you do not pick one of these options it means you are rejecting the offered seat and you will be out of the counselling process in the subsequent rounds.

o It is your responsibility to check the status of seat allocation at the beginning of each round and choose the appropriate options (as above).

· Pay the fee
o Pay the necessary seat acceptance fee as published in the JoSAA website immediately.

o If you fail to make the fee payment, for whatever may be the reason, your seat will be cancelled and allotted to another candidate in the next round as per the merit.

o Do not wait until the last minute to make the fee payment.

o JoSAA shall not take any responsibility for delay in payments by banks or technical glitches on the banks side.

· Online Certificate Verification (online reporting)

o Once you choose an option, upload the certificates and pay the seat acceptance fee, your application will be sent to a reporting officer of the Institute where you have been offered the admission i.e., provisional seat allocation.

o The officer looks at all the documents you submitted and raises a query, if there is any discrepancy.

👉It is important that you keep checking your email and the JoSAA portal regularly for any such queries.

👉 You must respond promptly before the reporting period ends.

👉If you fail to respond to queries and/or do not submit the required documents, then he/she will cancel the allotted seat.

· Withdraw/exit
o If you are not allotted a seat, you can exit the seat allocation process by choosing this option.
o If you are allotted a seat and you want to withdraw then you can exercise this option. If choose this option, then Seat allotted to you will be cancelled You will be out of the counselling process🐦Seat acceptance fee will be refunded after deducting the processing fee as given in the Business Rules of JoSAA 2022

o There is no exit/withdraw option in the last round of seat allocation
