Windows 11 can now reinstall itself without a USB drive
Microsoft has introduced Cloud Rebuild in Experimental Preview Build 26300.8772, a new feature to reinstall Windows without using physical media. It will automatically install all the drivers that your system requires. However, all your apps and data will be removed.
Cloud Rebuild can be accessed via WinRE. The WinRE environment must be healthy, and should be able to connect to the internet through either a wired Ethernet connection or a personal (WPA-Personal) Wi-Fi connection.

Apple will drop support for Encrypted HFS+ drives in macOS 28
In macOS 28 and later, the Mac OS Extended file system format will be supported only for volumes that aren't encrypted. Starting macOS 26, users will be notified about the encrypted disk.
Users can either decrypt the HFS+ volume in place or back up the data and erase the drive to reformat it as APFS or APFS (Encrypted).

Android will now be able to automatically backup files to your PC
Google is working on an automatic backup solution that backs up files you select directly to your PC, without any cloud storage or additional costs. The process must be started in the Quick Share app on your Windows PC, and your phone and PC must be signed in to the same Google account.
The photos and videos that you select will be backed up daily when your devices will be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. It can also be started manually.
However, this feature will not support Samsung Phones. Is it because Samsung already has Smart Switch?

Apple sues OpenAI, accuses ex-employees of stealing trade secrets
The lawsuit filed on July 10 names OpenAI, io Products, Tang Yew Tan and Chang Liu. Tang Tan served as VP of product design at Apple before working at iO products. Chang Liu worked at Apple for eight years and was a senior system electrical engineer before departing to join OpenAl.
Chang Liu kept an Apple work laptop, exploited an authentication bug to access Apple's internal network and downloaded dozens of confidential hardware files.
Tang Yew Tan used Apple internal codenames when recruiting and instructed candidates to bring physical Apple parts to interviews as a way to elicit proprietary information.
OpenAI representatives approached Apple suppliers and persuaded at least 1 partner to demonstrate a proprietary metal-finishing technique without Apple's authorization.
Apple is asking for injunctions, the return or destruction of materials, and monetary damages. OpenAI has denied all allegations.

tldr since it's big
> old employee downloaded confidential files using exploit
> other employee made candidates steal physical Apple hardware
> openai saw Apple's proprietary metal-finishing technique
I hope they sue OpenAI into Oblivion

Do anything in life but do not buy a Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14IAH10 with Intel Arc Graphics for using Linux
- WiFi card doesn't work after sleep out of the box (need to do a tweak)
- Even if it does, there's constant drops in WiFi connectivity (is it because of WiFi 7?)
- Audio is ass, but it was expected
- Intel Arc isn't built for gaming on linux (performs very poor as compared to Windows)
- HDR doesn't work on Linux (a 2 year old reddit post says that the HDR support is still being "worked on")
- Display color issues with specific desktop environments
- USB ports stop working randomly, need to reboot to fix it
- The camera has a very greyish and dull tone on Linux as compared to Windows
- And you obviously cannot access the Lenovo Vantage specific features
sorry for the rant, I wrote this as I just installed Windows as my second OS and it wiped my linux EFI partition (maybe because it was the first partition in the table)

Eternal Dogfooders: How is the child of Aha turns furry | RWHU
Disclosing my murrsuit on a Google Pixel 11 Pro XL. Android checkin endpoint, DroidGuard bypass, device taken apart in CA. All for dogfood.
Eternal Dogfooders: How is the child of Aha turns furry
The researchers discovered a way to exploit Google's Android "checkin" endpoint.
How it worked: By capturing valid device identifiers (Build Numbers, Serial Numbers, and fingerprints) from public trackers like Chromium Buganizer, they constructed custom protocol buffer requests.
The Result: The server accepted these forged checkins and responded with valid Over-The-Air (OTA) update URLs and authorization tokens meant exclusively for internal Google dogfood builds.
Google’s Fix? Android Canary.
Ultimately, Google addressed the reporting chaotic bureaucracy and the root endpoint issues by structurally changing how public testing is handled. In July 2025, they introduced the public Android Canary channel (using a ZP11 build prefix). By moving early-stage builds to a distinct public hierarchy, they lowered the incentive and impact of researchers targeting internal testing endpoints.
