The question of whether maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an individual responsibility or a governmental duty is increasingly important. In my opinion, personal responsibility is fundamental, but government support is equally necessary to make healthy choices realistic.

Individuals ultimately decide what they eat, how active they are, and whether they adopt healthy habits. Self-discipline and awareness play a decisive role in preventing lifestyle-related diseases. Without personal motivation, even well-designed health policies cannot achieve meaningful results.

However, governments significantly influence public behaviour through policies and infrastructure. Affordable access to nutritious food, safe public spaces for exercise, and educational health campaigns can encourage healthier lifestyles. In many cities, unhealthy food options are cheaper and more accessible, making healthy living difficult for lower-income populations.

Government regulation, such as limiting harmful advertising or promoting nutritional education, can help citizens make informed decisions. These measures do not remove personal freedom but instead create supportive environments.

Therefore, maintaining public health should be a shared responsibility. Individuals must take ownership of their habits, while governments should establish conditions that enable people to live healthier and more sustainable lives.
