🚨 Fake CEOs on video calls: AI clones helped steal $129 million, US prosecutors say

An employee would get a call from the boss about a confidential deal. The voice, and at times the face, was an AI copy of the real CEO. Then a "lawyer" from a big international firm joined, also faked with AI, and told the employee where to wire the money.

Prosecutors say the crew impersonated at least seven executives between 2024 and 2026. One UK fintech firm lost more than $11.5 million, a Florida pet food company more than $5.2 million, a Missouri hospital nearly $5 million.

Three men are charged in New York. They were arrested in Spain and the UK and are awaiting extradition. The money moved through accounts in the US, Europe, the UAE and China, then into crypto.

The US attorney urged "individuals and the business community to consider how to best protect themselves."

🗣 OpenAI's Greg Brockman says “death becoming a choice” is possible

In a recent interview clip, Brockman also said AI should deliver “real significant strides” on biology, health and curing diseases over the next 12 to 18 months.

“I think that we all suffer, that the question of even just thinking about death becoming a choice. All of this is possible.”

He called cures for disease a field trope that he now expects to start turning into real delivery, while warning the full impact will still take time.

🎭 Someone spent $20,000 so AIs could lie to each other at Werewolf

Podcaster Dwarkesh Patel paid about $20,000 in API credits to make frontier models play Blood on the Clocktower — a social-deduction game like Werewolf — against each other for 386 matches.

One model plays the whole good team; another plays the whole evil team. OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra leads the board at about 1,859 Elo. Against Claude Opus 4.6 it wins roughly 92% of the time. Dwarkesh says the edge is mostly catching liars, not telling better ones.
