According to the 72nd Parliamentary Standing Committee report presented on 30 August 2013, the HPV vaccine demonstration projects were suspended after reports of the deaths of seven girls in Andhra Pradesh & Gujarat during 2009–2010.
In Kalpana Mehta & Ors. vs. Union of India & Ors. (WP(C) No. 558 of 2012), a 5-judge Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra held that the 72nd (2013) and 81st (2014) Parliamentary Standing Committee Reports on HPV trials could be relied upon as evidence in court.
This means that the illegal and unethical HPV trials resulting in the deaths of seven girls were proven as murder by the Supreme Court.

रतलाम: जिले के नयाखेड़ा गांव में दो परिवारों के लिए मंगलवार का दिन किसी काल से कम नहीं साबित हुआ। जो माता-पिता अपने बच्चों को सुरक्षित रखने के लिए आंगनवाड़ी सेंटर में टीका लगवाने गए थे, उन्हें क्या पता था कि शाम होते-होते उनके घर का चिराग हमेशा के लिए बुझ जाएगा। रेगुलर वैक्सीनेशन के कुछ ही देर बाद दो मासूमों की तबीयत ऐसी बिगड़ी कि पूरे गांव में हड़कंप मच गया। इस लापरवाही ने 10 महीने के नन्हे पियांशु की जान ले ली, वहीं डेढ़ साल का नित्यांशु अभी भी अस्पताल के आईसीयू में जिंदगी और मौत की जंग लड़ रहा है।

पियांशु के पिता धर्मेंद्र मालवीय ने भारी मन से बताया कि मंगलवार दोपहर करीब 12:30 बजे उनके बेटे को तीन टीके लगाए गए थे। दोपहर ढाई बजते-बजते बच्चे के शरीर ने जवाब देना शुरू कर दिया। उसे तेज उल्टियां और दस्त होने लगे। घबराए पिता उसे तुरंत धराड़ हेल्थ सेंटर लेकर भागे, लेकिन वहां के स्टाफ का रवैया पत्थर दिल जैसा था। धर्मेंद्र का आरोप है कि स्टाफ ने बच्चे को हाथ तक नहीं लगाया और सीधे रतलाम रेफर कर दिया। इस चक्कर में कीमती समय बर्बाद हो गया और जब तक परिवार रतलाम के अस्पताल पहुंचा, डॉक्टरों ने पियांशु को मृत घोषित किया
