It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RaḍiyAllāhu ʿanhu) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

Every Muslim is sacred to his fellow Muslim: his blood, his property and his honour.

[Narrated by Muslim (2564)]

Ibn Daqeeq al-Eid (Rahimahullah) said in al-Iqtiraah (34):

Indulging in (maligning) the honour of the Muslims (by backbiting, slandering, carrying tales etc) is one of the ditches of Hell. End quote.

Four things remove/dispel resentment/ill-feelings/rancour between brothers:

1. Helping with one's body (effort)
2. Kindness with one's speech,
3. Supporting with one's wealth,
4. And praying for them in their absence.

Abu Hurairah (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection.

If anyone makes it easy for the one who is indebted to him (while finding it difficult to repay), Allah will make it easy for him in this worldly life and in the Hereafter,

and if anyone conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and in the Hereafter.

Allah helps His slave as long as he helps his brother.”

From the Wonders of Sadaqah — “Treat Your Sick and Ailing Ones With Charity”

A man once came to Imam ‘Abdullah Ibn Mubarak (rahimahullah) seeking advice about an ulcer that had appeared in his knee seven years ago.

He had tried various treatments and asked doctors but did not benefit from it; so ibn al-Mubarak said to him:

"Go and dig a well in a place where there is a need for water (for the people). For I am hopeful that water will spring up there and the bleeding will stop.”

So he did that and he was cured (by the mercy of Allah).

[Siyar ‘A’laam an-Nubalaa’, 8/407]

Treating the Evil Eye (‘Ayn) and Envious Eye (Hasadd)

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah):

No. 8.

Charity and charitable deeds (food, water, clothing, necessities) must be done as much as possible (in abundance)

for (doing) this has a wonderful affect in warding off (ongoing or impending) calamity,

and (it works in) warding off the evil eye or the envious eye (that which has already taken affect or the one that may take affect will be prevented).

Ibn Taymīyyah (rahimahillāh) said:

When a slave of Allāh

confides in his Lord at the last part of the night

and seeks aid from Him

and (then) says:

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ

لَا إلَهَ إلَّا أَنْتَ

بِرَحْمَتِك أَسْتَغِيثُ.

O the Ever-Lasting O who protects all that exists. There is none worthy of worship except Allāh. I seek aid with Your Mercy.

Then Allāh grants him power and strength the amount which only Allāh knows.

A student in the past used to listen to learn and know to do good deeds and understand the Dīn of Allāh so he could benefit himself and benefit others.

Now it has become that he listens to gather knowledge, he gathers knowledge so he can be mentioned amongst people, he memorizes so he can win an argument and can be proud.

Prophet (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

The proud will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection like ants in the image of people, and everything will be stepping on them, humiliating them, until they enter a prison in Hell called Bulas.

They will be fed flames of fire, and given for drink a paste of insanity dripping from the people of the Fire.

And sincerity (ikhlaas) while embarking on the road is a beacon that directs to right direction.

Only those with insincere intentions will stumble in their walk,

and those who refuse to be sincere are those whom Allah does not select
(for guidance).

And there is no power nor strength except with Allah.

Giving Charity on Fridays

● Ka'b al-Ahbar (rahimahullah) said:

The sun has neither risen nor set on a day greater than the day of Friday,

and charity given on it is greater than on other days.

[Sahih Musannaf of 'Abd Ar-Razzaq (rahimahullah), 5558]

● al-A‘mash narrated from Mujahid, from ‘Abdullah ibn Damrah,

from Ka‘b (rahimahumullah) who said:

Charity is multiplied on Friday.

[Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah, 2/57, no. 6, Maktabah Islamiyyah]

● Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

Giving charity on Friday has a special merit compared to other days,

just as giving charity during the month of Ramadan has a higher merit compared to the rest of the year.

I witnessed Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah)

when he would go out for Jumuaah,

he would take whatever he found at home—be it bread or anything else—and give it as charity in secret on his way.

I heard him say:

“If Allah commanded us to give charity before consulting with the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) (58:12),

then giving charity before consulting with Allah is even more virtuous and deserving of merit.”

[Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah), Zaad al-Maad, 1/399]

● Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

If the one giving charity

knew

that his charity landed in the Hand of Allah,

before the hand of the poor person,

the pleasure of the giver would be greater than the pleasure of the receiver.

[Ibn ul-Qayyim (rahimahullah), paraphrased from al-Wabil al-Sayyib, al-Madarij as-Salikeen, 1/26]

Abu Huraira (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) reported Allah's Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) as saying:

No one gives sadaqah (charity) of a date out of his honest earning, except that Allah accepts it with His Right Hand, and then fosters it as one of you fosters the colt or a young she-camel, till it becomes like a mountain or even greater.

[Sahih Muslim, 1014b, Book 12, Hadith 80]

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said:

“Charity (sadaqah) reaches (lit. falls into) the Hand of Allah before it falls into the hand of the one who asks for it.” (i.e., Allah Ta’ala accepts it), he (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) then recited the Verse:

{(Do they not know that Allah) accepts repentance from His servants and takes their charities”}
— Surah Tawbah, 9:104

[Tafsir at-Tabari (rahimahullah); Jami’ul Bayan, Surah Tawbah, Verse: 104, vol. 11, pg. 666, see also: Majma az-Zawaid, vol. 3, pg. 111, Hadith: 4677]

Abu Hurairah (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that :

the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

"Indeed Allah accepts charity, and He accepts it with His Right (Hand) to nurture it for one of you, just like one of you would nurture his foal, until the bite (of food) becomes as large as Uhud."

[Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 662, Chapter 28: What Has Been Related About the Virtue of Charity, Graded: Hasan Sahih]

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyAllahu ‘anhu):

"Indeed, charity* (sadaqah) reaches (lit. falls into) the Hand of Allah before it reaches the hand of the one who asks,"

then he recited:

{And He it is Who accepts repentance* from His servants}
— ash-Shura: 25, the verse.

Abu Hurayrah (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) reported:

A person sat late in the night with Allah's Apostle (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and then came to his family and found that his children had gone to sleep.

His wife brought food for him. but he took an oath that he would not eat because of his children (having gone to sleep without food).

He then gave precedence (of breaking the vow and then expiating it) and ate the food.

He then came to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) and made mention of that to him, whereupon Allah's Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “He who took an oath and (later on) found something better than that should do that, and expiate for (breaking) his vow.”

Provision and Spending

{قُلْ إِنَّ رَبِّي يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهُ وَمَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ}

and whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah's Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers."
