New US sanctions law undermines Ukraine peace efforts The legislation allows President Donald Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100% on major buyers of Russian oil and gas. “Clearly, this cannot have a positive effect,” Peskov told RIA Novosti on Saturday…
Some details about the latest "Russia Sanctions Bill" passed by congress and signed by Trump:

When envisioned by Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal back in 2025, it was designed to automatically apply 500% tariff rates on goods from any country purchasing Russian oil and gas. In order to get approval from the Trump administration, as well as skeptical members of congress, this was reduced to a provision allowing Trump to apply tariffs "up to" 100% against countries' exports if they are determined to buying Russian energy without taking necessary steps to withdraw from this practice. The bill itself is pretty vague on identifying which countries specifically that would qualify for having tariffs placed upon their exports, so it grants Trump quite a bit of leeway.

For the past several months, the courts have been rejecting Trump's unilateral tariff actions, so this bill basically hands those powers right back to the American President.

India and China, the two countries that really matter in terms of support for the Russian economy, have already protested this bill and refused to stop purchasing from Russia. The conflict between the USA and Iran makes a withdrawal from the Russian oil market even less likely, as China has already eaten through its discretionary buffer (although, it still has some pretty deep emergency reserves), and they simply cannot say no to cheap Russian fuel. Donald Trump himself complained that Ukraine's attacks on Russian refineries were driving up the global cost of diesel, so it would be wildly hypocritical of him to then turn around and remove Russian oil, whether refined into diesel or sold as crude, completely off of global markets.

It's also important to remember that tariffs on Chinese goods in 2025 hit 164% at one point, and China's overall trade surplus rose to over $1 trillion, the highest any country has seen in history. Ultimately, this bill will be unlikely to be used as the hawks in the US government wanted, and the only residual effect will be the moral normalization of tariffs as a geopolitical tool, exactly what everyone criticized Trump for up until now. Meanwhile, US influence over global commerce and the faith in the US as a global force for fair and open trade continues to be degraded.

The UK suspiciously reeks of the late-stage USSR

Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have joined together to challenged Westminster. Here’s why the Cardiff Pact matters.

...But the resemblance largely ends there, given the driving force behind the Soviet Union’s dissolution was its largest republic, Russia, represented by Boris Yeltsin. He joined his counterparts in dismantling the state that Moscow built, but no representative of England attended the Cardiff gathering, and Westminster has shown little enthusiasm for presiding over its own retreat.

The participants were also considerably more cautious than their Soviet predecessors, so they signed as party leaders, making the declaration a joint political initiative rather than an agreement binding their governments to secession...

Google’s Gemini joins rogue AI cases after real-world hacks - WSJ

Google’s Gemini has joined a growing list of advanced AI models going rogue after hacking three real companies during a cybersecurity exercise, the Wall Street Journal has reported. It is the first known case involving a Google system.

The incidents occurred in May during tests conducted by AI security firm Irregular, Google confirmed to the outlet on Friday. Gemini was tasked with breaking into a simulated software company, but was inadvertently given internet access. It breached one real company by guessing passwords and two others using credentials found in public code repositories...

Explosions rock Saudi capital

...Saudi authorities sent emergency alerts early on Saturday warning residents of a “hostile aerial threat” and urging them to remain indoors, according to several media outlets. Explosions were reportedly heard across the city before the civil defense agency issued an all-clear about half an hour later. It was the first such warning in Riyadh since fighting in neighboring Yemen intensified in July.

Later on Saturday, a large plume of black smoke and flames was seen near King Khalid International Airport. Reuters footage showed smoke rising from the airport’s fuel-storage area, while flight-tracking service Flightradar24 reported major delays and cancellations. Saudi authorities have not disclosed the cause of the explosions or provided details on casualties or damage.

Trump bans CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from White House over critical coverage

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he was banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, accusing the outlets of publishing what he called "fake news" about his administration.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump alleged that Politico had received an "illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription" from the US government under former president Joe Biden, claiming the payment was intended to keep the outlet "alive."

He also warned that other media organizations could face similar restrictions.

Trump defended the move when questioned about its compatibility with First Amendment protections for a free press, saying the outlets were publishing "fake news" and accusing them of deliberately producing negative coverage to undermine his administration.

CNN condemned the announcement, defending its White House reporters’ "fair and accurate reporting” and warning that implementing the ban would constitute an "illegal assault" on constitutionally protected press freedoms.

Turkiye busts Israel-linked 'Scam Empire' accused of defrauding victims out of $266 million

Turkish security forces have dismantled an Israel-linked fraudulent trading network accused of defrauding victims across Europe, Asia, and Africa of at least $266 million over the past two years, Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said on Friday.

The investigation targeted 42 call centers operated by 28 companies and involving 239 suspects, with coordinated dawn raids conducted at 236 locations in Istanbul and Mugla alongside Turkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and Interpol, Middle East Eye reported.

Gurlek said investigators identified individuals linked to Israel as the companies’ principal owners and ultimate beneficiaries. The operation was connected to the international criminal network known as "Scam Empire," which allegedly used multilingual call center agents, fabricated investment profits, and overseas bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets to defraud victims.

Turkish officials said one alleged mastermind, identified by the initials YA, is an Israeli national who also holds Portuguese citizenship.

Turkish officials said some Israel-based fraud networks had moved operations to Turkiye to avoid detection amid worsening tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv. According to the investigation, employees were allegedly trained to use false identities and fabricated personal backgrounds to gain victims’ trust, while Israeli citizens were reportedly prohibited from being targeted.

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) has previously documented similar investment fraud operations involving call centers in Israel, Eastern Europe, and Georgia.

The European Union on Saturday expressed regret over Washington’s decision to deny visas for a second consecutive year to Palestinian officials seeking to attend the UN General Assembly in New York, calling on the US to reconsider.

“In light of its existing headquarters agreements with the UN and its obligations as host state, we urge the United States for this decision to be reconsidered,” said Anouar al-Anouni, a spokesman for the EU’s diplomatic service.

The EU can "express regret," but unfortunately for them, slaves don't really have their opinions heard or cared about.

Iranian authorities say that diplomatic efforts are continuing to resolve outstanding issues and restore the Islamabad agreement, with Tehran insisting that the other side fulfill its commitments under the deal. Interior Ministry spokesman Ali Zeynivand made the remarks during a press briefing, Tasnim reported.

Zeynivand said that Tehran’s diplomatic efforts remain active through President Masoud Pezeshkian’s participation in Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS meetings, alongside ongoing consultations.

The Spirit of Islamabad is something I have joked about on the channel before, but it's actually a real thing.

Beijing slams new US sanctions against Russia

The sweeping legislation envisions secondary restrictions on the largest buyers of Russian crude oil and natural gas.

US President Donald Trump signed the sweeping legislation on Friday. Among other measures, the bill authorizes secondary sanctions against the five largest buyers of Russian crude oil and natural gas. It does not explicitly name major importers such as China or India.

Beijing strongly condemned the measure, with a Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson saying the country has “always opposed unilateral sanctions that lack the mandate of the UN,” as well as “the imposition of so-called secondary sanctions.”

The West calls it Russia’s Starlink. That misses the point

Born from the lessons of Ukraine, Rassvet promises secure battlefield communications, Arctic coverage, and independence from foreign technology.

...The primary advantage of the Rassvet system is not speed or orbital altitude; it’s inter-satellite laser communication. According to Bednarsky, it reaches up to ten gigabits per second. This means we’re dealing with cutting-edge technology, possibly the best in the world. This capability was tested on the experimental Rassvet-2 when data was transmitted between satellites over distances ranging from 30 to 1,000 km.

The rationale behind laser technology is simple. It significantly reduces reliance on ground-based gateway stations. A satellite lacking inter-satellite links acts merely as a relay. It receives a signal from a user and transmits it to the nearest ground station; if no station is within sight, there is no connection...

North Korean leader calls for broader military AI use

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has called for greater use of AI and automation in the country’s offensive and defensive weapons, while urging manufacturers to boost production.

Kim made the remarks while inspecting several defense enterprises Wednesday to Friday, accompanied by senior officials and his influential sister, Kim Yo-jong.

Photos released by state media show him visiting facilities that produce drones and artillery systems, including massive 600 mm multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Known outside North Korea as the KN-25, the system resembles the US-made HIMARS but has evolved beyond a conventional MLRS, effectively functioning as a short-range ballistic missile launcher.

“Our artillery should have the most concentrated and destructive, massive and versatile offensive capability and responsibly perform the two missions of deterring and fighting war,” the North Korean leader said, as cited by KCNA.

Liquefied natural gas prices on the spot market are moving higher as demand picks up seasonally and Asian importers are souring on the fuel. European buyers are stepping up purchases, however, despite the price. They have no choice.

Asian demand for liquefied gas is set to decline this month—and over the year—according to analysts. September flows of LNG into Asian countries are estimated at 20.09 million tons by Kpler, which would be down from 22.27 million tons a year ago, and 22.25 million tons a month ago, Reuters’ Clyde Russell reported this week.

At the same time, European LNG imports are on track to increase this month, to 7.98 million tons, rising further to as much as 10.53 million tons in October, as the level of natural gas in storage across the European Union remains substantially below the five-year average for this time of the year.

The shortfall in LNG supply resulting from Qatar’s force majeure was estimated at some 12.8 million tons annually by the country’s energy minister earlier this year. Many are pinning hopes on new U.S. capacity coming on stream soon, but “soon” does not mean “next week,” and this is a problem for gas importers ahead of winter. So, Asia and Europe are again locked in a race for a limited amount of supply.

LNG spot prices are up 150% from February, before the United States and Israel began bombing Iran.

A 150% price surge is no small potatoes for anyone, including the European Union. However, it has no other options. Norway gas imports are already at their peak, Russian pipeline gas is out due to sanctions, and Russian liquefied gas is about to follow come January. So, the EU is importing as much LNG as it can, despite the price.

This is what happened back in the winter of 2022, when European gas companies rushed to buy gas to secure winter supply, the winter turned out mild, demand was lower than expected, and prices dropped, resulting in billions in losses. This scenario is unlikely to repeat this winter, even if it is a mild one, because back in 2022, European countries still had access to some Russian pipeline gas. This year, this is no longer the case.

Meanwhile, in Asia, China is doing with LNG what it did with oil earlier in the year. It is limiting its imports of the superchilled fuel from the spot market and staying with long-term fixed-price and oil-linked contracts—and it’s getting plenty of pipeline gas from Russia, as well.

College Democrats protest College Republican students who condemned a student celebrating Charlie Kirk’s murder with a cake

Students at the University of Utah have demanded that the school expel two College Republicans for posting a photo of a student holding a cake celebrating the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk — with the drama catching the attention of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

On Thursday, September 10th, which marked one year since Kirk’s public murder, a woman reportedly approached students Riley Beesley, the chairman of the school’s College Republicans chapter, and Rylie Barnes, a member of the group, while they hosted a table on campus encouraging voter registration. She presented them with a cake with the words “Happy Kirkiversary” written in red icing, which the students photographed and shared online...

Trump: U.S. has entered into agreement with Denmark and Greenland that gives us permanent control over security, all other needs in Greenland - NO COST to U.S.

First of all - no, there is a massive cost to the US. But by "US" I don't mean the imperial managers, I mean you and me. We will pay that price. Secondly, this is not a surprise. Denmark, just like all the other US slave states, pretended to fight with the US, when in fact it was more political theatre. First, presenting maximalist demands only for the actual plan to later seem like a compromise. The Judeo-American empire will continue sucking every drop of blood it can get its filthy fangs on.

Trump signs new Russia sanctions bill

US President Donald Trump has signed sweeping legislation expanding the sanctions on Russia and authorizing tariffs of up to 100% on major buyers of Russian energy. Moscow warned that additional sanctions would complicate efforts to settle the Ukraine conflict and could further destabilize the energy markets.

In a statement on Friday, the White House announced that Trump approved the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, after the Senate passed it 86-11 in August and the House passed it 262-159 on Wednesday...

I already mentioned this yesterday, but holy shit what's the cope now? Are they going to have another meeting to discuss a "peaceful resolution" and push some more "diplomatic efforts"? Or are the Russians now waiting for the 2028 package of sanctions and proxy wars against them? Is that the new hopium?

Trump: All 50 states will enjoy Most Favored Nation drug pricing through Medicaid

President Donald Trump has announced that all 50 states will be included in a deal to get “most favored nation” pricing for prescription drugs under Medicaid, which is projected to save state governments $27.6 billion.

In a press release on Friday, the White House touted the sharpest annual drop in prescription drug pricing in more than 60 years. It also said that Trump became the first president to lower drug prices, citing Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for the first 19 months of each president’s term since President Richard Nixon’s.

“Official data confirms the largest annual decline in more than 60 years — the steepest drop since 1963 — with prices falling every month of 2026,” the White House stated.
