The locals weren't exactly pleased to see these so called "liberators".

The date of this footage is unclear. Some claim it is from July of 1944 a few weeks after the D-Day landings. However it is also claimed that these are Canadian POWs in 1942 after the failed landings at Dieppe.

Either way, it contradicts the narrative that the French saw the Anglo American armies as liberators, to the contrary it shows they viewed them as unwelcome occupiers.

France was semi occupied but life was normal and the Germans did not persecute or oppress the French population, they lived peacefully until the allies showed up with bombs of peace, freedom and democracy, bringing death and destruction to their cities killing tens of thousands.
