BCA is proud to be part of two award-winning initiatives recognised at the ๐๐๐-๐๐๐ ๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐โ, graced by DPM and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and co-organised by the Pro-Enterprise Panel (PEP) and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) Foundation. These initiatives were recognised under the ๐๐ซ๐จ-๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ & ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ (๐๐๐๐๐)โ, a new award to recognise government agencies and businesses that have demonstrated outstanding collaboration in delivering measurable improvements to Singapore's regulatory environment.
โจ Alliance for Action on Business Competitiveness
โจ Tender Lite
Both initiatives represent the collective effort of multiple agencies and industry partners working together to create a more business-friendly regulatory environment.
๐ก The Alliance for Action on Business Competitiveness (Manpower) co-chaired by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), brought together public agencies and business leaders to co-create solutions that address pressing manpower challenges. For example, the removal of maximum age and period of employment for work permit holders allows businesses to attract and retain experienced workers.
โ๏ธ Tender Lite led by Ministry of Finance is a new procurement category for Tenders with estimated procurement value not exceeding $1 million. It streamlines and simplifies contract conditions, thus increasing accessibility of Government procurement to businesses. This demonstrates how close collaborations between public agencies with private sector entities can lead to win-win outcomes.
BCA is privileged to have contributed to these initiatives alongside our counterparts across government and industry. This recognition underscores the value of collaboration, co-creation, and continuous improvement in building a pro-enterprise Singapore.
Congratulations to our partners and the wider community for this shared achievement!

At the inaugural, Lift & Escalator (L&E) Excellence Award 2025, Minister for National Development, Mr Chee Hong Tat highlighted the industryโs milestones in attracting talent and boosting careers.
๐น Structured career pathways & wage growth under the Progressive Wage Model (PWM): The PWM has transformed sector attractiveness with structured wage growth, mandatory annual bonuses, and clear career progression.
๐น Continuous upskilling programmes: Developed with BCA, ITE offers Certificate of Competencies (CoCs), the Higher Nitec in Vertical Transportation and the Work-Study Diploma in Vertical Transportation. These programmes ensure our workforce stays ahead of industry demands
๐น Technology and innovation Leadership: Singapore is the first country to adopt the Code of Practice for Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics (RM&D). With over 1,500 RM&D lifts now, the industry has achieved 60% reduction in breakdowns and more than 30% increase in lift uptime, minimising disruption for lift users.
๐น Enhanced workplace conditions: improved lighting, ventilation, and safety measures support a safer, more comfortable work environment for our workforce.
These combined efforts have resulted in:
โ Median wages rising 14% in 2024 and 10% in 2025 across all job levels.
โ PWM L&E workforce growing by 7% over 2 years.
โ Median age of PWM L&E workforce reducing from 46 to 40 years over past two years, beyond the baseline wage floor.
At the awards, 15 outstanding PWM L&E individuals were recognised for technical mastery, leadership, and commitment to safety.
As Singapore's vertical city continues expanding, this transformation shows what we can achieve together when industry partners invest in their people and embrace new technology.

A Day in The Life of A Facilities Manager
Behind every well-managed building is a story, and Shermaine Tan's journey began long before she took on her role as Facilities Manager at CBRE.
What started as heartfelt conversations with a family member grew into a calling: to shape spaces where people feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.
That early spark led her to pursue Built Environment studies at a polytechnic and later at a university, building a strong foundation that deepened her commitment to contribute meaningfully to the spaces people live, work, and gather in. Each step deepened her belief that the Built Environment is more than structures, itโs about improving lives.
Today, Shermaine balances complex operations, people management, and sustainability efforts, but itโs her passion for teamwork and purpose-driven work that truly sets her apart.
Curious how she found her path, and what keeps her inspired in such a dynamic field?
