Not only Beginners but even the experienced students do these things. Even I used to do it while I was preparing.
But I can tell you it's a Trap, it will feel productive at that time but you are just getting into Trap and becoming PDF Collector.
I always say, First understand the exam - then understand what is needed from you, will you be able to do that? Test your current level - Plan for what is required - Look for best resources as per your requirement - Kill all the distractions/Noises - Join/Make a peer group 5-10 serious students.

One word for today’s UPSC CSE Prelims: “Maha Wahiyat.”
This feels like a mockery of hardworking students.
But the reality is, no matter how difficult or unpredictable the paper was, selections will happen from those who attempted the exam.
And remember, this is true for almost all major exams today. Nearly 40–50% questions often feel random or FALTU. You may experience the same on 13th June as well.
But some 800 will definitely get selected for RBI Grade B Mains. You need to Make sure your name is in that selected list.

We also provide similar suggestions but mostly students believe in the words of those who have qualified.
The above suggestion is also true for RBI/SEBI/PFRDA/NABARD Exams. You can't go after them endlessly for years without having any job. Noone is doubting your capability, it's just the nature of competition is different.

On 13th June, after the RBI Grade B Prelims exam, you will hear many students complaining about several things because around 45-50% questions in RBI Grade B Prelims would be random, absurd, and unpredictable too as there is no fixed syllabus, only previous year trends, however there would be 40-45% doable questions too placed randomly.
Also the reality is, RBI will still select around 800 candidates for Mains, by increasing or decreasing the cutoff, no matter how difficult or easy paper is in actual.
When the paper is difficult, it becomes a game of survival for the fittest. When it's easy you Need to maximize your attempt, that's the rule.
