Central Asian University welcomed Dr. Tomislav Mihaljevic, President and CEO of Cleveland Clinic, for his first official visit to the university as part of our strategic partnership.
The visit began with a meeting at AKFA Group, followed by a tour of AKFA Medline University Hospital, where Dr. Mihaljevic met with doctors and residents and learned more about their work. He also visited the Social by AKFA construction site, exploring the development of this new healthcare facility.
At CAU, Dr. Mihaljevic learned about the university’s campus expansion plans and visited the future CAU Hospital. As construction progresses, CAU is already planning how medical teams will work and how patient care will be organized, drawing on Cleveland Clinic’s extensive experience.
The visit also included a Leadership & Experience Sharing Session with CAU students, who had the opportunity to ask questions and gain insights into leadership and the future of medicine.
We thank Dr. Mihaljevic for his time, genuine interest, and valuable exchange with our community.

Originally from India, Dr. Karan has been living in Uzbekistan and brings nearly 17 years of experience across business, research and industry, having worked in Italy, Belgium, France and the United States.
He holds three master's degrees — in fashion marketing from Italy, an MBA and a master's in education — as well as two doctoral degrees, and is currently pursuing further studies in applied economics at the University of Antwerp, Belgium
At CAU, Dr. Karan serves as an Associate Professor at the Business School. His teaching is built on empirical evidence gathered from around the world, helping students gain practical skills and apply their knowledge directly in industry.

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Research Skills Session "From Research to Publication: How to Write and Publish a Scientific Research Article".
The session is designed for students who have conducted experiments, developed projects or are working on graduation theses with the potential to become scientific publications. Participants will learn how to transform their work into a research article and prepare it for submission to academic journals.
The session will be delivered by Dr. Ali Moursy, Deputy Dean for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the CAU School of Engineering. Key topics include identifying a research gap, structuring a scientific article according to the IMRaD format, presenting results and data, using reliable references and citation tools, selecting an appropriate journal, and adhering to research ethics, including the avoidance of plagiarism and predatory journals.

Central Asian University has become the first higher education institution in Uzbekistan to successfully complete comprehensive state accreditation under the new procedure established by the national education quality assessment system introduced in 2025. On October 8, 2026, the University was awarded Accreditation Certificate KAS No. 00001.
According to the evaluation results, 271 out of 272 institutional indicators, or 99.6%, were found to comply with the established requirements. All eight areas received positive expert evaluations. The assessment also covered 14 academic programmes offered by the University.
The evaluation included an analysis of academic and administrative processes, academic programmes, human resources, infrastructure, and learning conditions. The involvement of international experts brought an additional professional perspective to the assessment of the University’s performance.
Central Asian University expresses its gratitude to the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for its continued efforts to develop the national quality assurance system and introduce modern mechanisms for state evaluation.

Meet Temurkhon Tillakhodjaev, a 2025 graduate of CAU Medical School, now pursuing his residency in otolaryngology at Akfa Medline University Hospital.
Temurkhon is currently completing a month-long observership at Cleveland Clinic in the USA, where he is gaining insights into advanced surgical approaches, multidisciplinary teamwork, and international standards of patient care.
His journey began at CAU in 2019, where clinical experience, research, and mentorship helped him discover his passion for otolaryngology. Today, he continues to develop his expertise through international learning opportunities, with the goal of bringing new knowledge and experience back to Uzbekistan.
