3) Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2024
Recipient: Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun
Achievement: The discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation

4) Nobel Prize in Literature 2024
Recipient: Han Kang
Achievement: for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life

5) Nobel Peace Prize 2024
Recipient: Nihon Hidankyo
Achievement: for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again

6) Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2024
Recipients: Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James Robinson
Achievement: for studies of how institutions are formed and affect prosperity

⚡️Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Civil Registration System (CRS) mobile app on October 29, 2024, to streamline digital registration of births and deaths across India under the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023. Since October 1, 2023, all births and deaths are digitally recorded through the portal dc.crsorgi.gov.in, producing a digital certificate that serves as a singular proof for admissions, government jobs, and other services.

The CRS will support a centralised database that updates the National Population Register (NPR), which currently contains data on 119 crore residents, as well as links with electoral rolls, ration cards, and property records. Additionally, Shah inaugurated a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Census Building in New Delhi.

⚡️Karnataka's IT Minister Priyank Kharge launched two major startup programs, ELEVATE 2024 and KAN (Karnataka Acceleration Network), to support and expand startup growth across the state. ELEVATE 2024 provides up to Rs 50 lakh in grant funding per startup, plus incubation, mentorship, and access to venture capital, focusing on early-stage startups. The KAN initiative targets scaling startups by offering mentorship, market access, and funding, especially in regions outside Bengaluru. Since 2016, ELEVATE has funded 983 startups with Rs 224.06 crore in grants.

These programs align with Karnataka’s Startup Policy 2022-27, enabling startups to access incentives like reimbursements for patent, marketing, and GST costs, and subsidised incubation at government-backed centers of excellence and Technology Business Incubators.
