Researchers found that butterflies traveled 2,600 miles across the Atlantic. In 2013, Gerard Talavera made the unusual discovery that painted lady butterflies are not normally found in South America—he spotted them in French Guiana.
Following ten years of research, it was determined that these butterflies had made the first transoceanic flight ever observed by an insect. The painted lady butterflies most likely traveled 4,200 kilometers, or more, to get from West Africa to South America. It could have been a much longer trip—up to 7,000 km—with a possible start in Europe. Long migrations by painted lady butterflies are well-known, including the 9,000-mile journey that occurs between Europe and Africa.

Snowblind is a new Android malware that targets banking credentials by exploiting 'seccomp' (secure computing), a built-in security feature of the Linux kernel and Android OS.
Discovered by security firm Promon, Snowblind repacks apps to evade detection of accessibility features, enabling it to extract sensitive information and gain remote access. The malware injects code that activates before seccomp’s anti-tampering measures, bypassing security mechanisms and disabling biometric and two-factor authentication.
Snowblind primarily affects users who download apps from untrusted sources and is most active in Southeast Asia. Google has confirmed that no apps on the Play Store are infected, suggesting users are safe if they stick to Play Store apps.

The Aditya-L1 spacecraft, India's inaugural solar mission, has successfully executed its first halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 point. With a smooth transition into the second halo orbit, ISRO made sure. Launched on September 2, 2023, the Aditya-L1 mission is an Indian solar observatory located at Lagrangian point L1. It was placed into its intended halo orbit on January 6, 2024. It takes 178 days for the Aditya-L1 spacecraft in a halo orbit to complete a revolution around the L1 point, according to Isro.
