In the Indian Constitution, a Schedule is a detailed annexure that provides additional information or guidelines on specific provisions. Each Schedule organizes complex or supplementary data essential for the Constitution's functioning in a structured format. The Constitution originally contained eight Schedules, but amendments have expanded this to twelve. Each Schedule covers distinct areas, such as the allocation of seats in the Rajya Sabha, recognized official languages, division of powers between the Union and States, and provisions related to the administration of tribal areas, among others. Schedules simplify the Constitution by consolidating extensive or technical information separately, supporting efficient governance and legal clarity.
