How to borrow crypto using DeFi 💰

💰 Just like with a traditional bank, you need collateral for a crypto loan. In this case, you deposit some crypto assets before borrowing.

Borrowing assets in such way can be helpful if you need stablecoins without selling long-term holds like BTC or ETH 👇

🔵First, set up an EVM-compatible wallet and deposit some crypto you want to use as collateral in it.

🔵Then, visit Aave app 🤑

🔵Choose the right network, then click “Supply” on the asset you’d like to use as collateral.

🔵Once supplied, click “Borrow” on the asset you want, up to 80% of your collateral’s value.

🔵LTV stands for Loan-to-Value, which measures how much you’ve borrowed versus what you’ve deposited.

🔵If your LTV ratio drops below 1.0, your position can be liquidated and you’ll pay a small fee.

🔵To stay safe, maintain at least 20% gap between your supply and borrow values. If value of your collateral decreases (e.g. ETH price dumps), you need to deposit some more in order to keep the position open.

🔵Next to each market you will see a variable APY %, when you lend — this APY is what you earn, when you borrow — this APY is what you pay for borrowing this asset.
