MegaETH, one of the most anticipated new Ethereum Layer 2 projects, opened registration for its public token sale, hosted on the same platform that ran this summer’s Plasma launch 🔍 🔗 The sale will take place HERE through Sonar, Echo’s investing platform…
MegaETH sets TGE for April 30, pre-market already down 30% 🔽

MegaETH announced its token launch for April 30, after clearing the KPI it set for itself: 10 live applications on the network. Despite the drop, pre-market is still trading 60% above ICO price.

🤔 The unlock structure is tiered. Sonar Sale participants get 100% liquid on listing day, unless they chose the 1-year lock. Fluffle NFT holders unlock 50% at launch. Echo Sale participants get just 20%.

🤞 I hold MEGA and I'm not hedging. Initial circulation will be low, and at $1 with 10% of supply in float, the market cap would be only $400M. That's not expensive for a project with live apps and a working fast chain. There's a real chance the low float squeezes price higher before the broader supply hits.

What Is Contango and Backwardation 😐

A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell an asset at a fixed price on a future date. Crypto perps have made futures feel like a pure leverage tool, but commodity futures work differently. Hold an oil contract to expiration and someone is obligated to deliver actual barrels to an actual location. In 2020, WTI futures briefly went negative because traders who could not take delivery were desperate to offload contracts nobody wanted.

⬆️ In contango, futures trade above spot. For physical commodities this reflects storage costs, financing, and time. In digital assets, where none of those exist, contango is usually just a positioning signal: enough traders buying futures long push contract prices above spot.

⬇️ In backwardation, futures trade below spot. For physical commodities this signals tight near-term supply or elevated demand. In digital assets it tends to mean the opposite side of the same dynamic: aggressive short positioning dragging contract prices below spot.

Neither structure tells you whether price will rise or fall.

❗️ Where this matters most is futures-based ETFs. In contango, a fund must sell expiring contracts and buy the next month at a higher price, repeatedly. That roll cost compounds over time, meaning an ETF can lose value even when the underlying asset stays flat.

Two ETFs tracking the same commodity can perform very differently depending on which one holds futures and which holds the physical asset.

A U.S. soldier got arrested for betting on his own mission 🤨

The DOJ arrested a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier for insider trading on Polymarket. He bet $32,537 that Maduro would be removed from office by Jan. 31. He walked away with $404,222, that's 11x return in under two weeks.

🤦‍♂️ The reason the bet worked so well is that he helped plan the operation. Prosecutors say he had access to classified details about the Maduro capture while it was being planned. There's a photo of him standing on the deck of the USS Iwo Jima in military fatigues, carrying a rifle. That's the ship Maduro was transferred to after his arrest.

😰 After reports of suspicious Polymarket trading surfaced, he tried to delete his account and moved the proceeds into a foreign crypto wallet. It didn't work.

This is the first insider trading prosecution on a prediction market in U.S. history. Trump, asked about it Thursday, said: "That's like Pete Rose betting on his own team." 😅

Why People Say "Sell in May and Go Away" ❓

You've probably heard this saying before. With just six days to go until May, it's time to figure out what it means.

This is a seasonal trading rule built on a real historical pattern. Stocks have tended to perform better between November and April than between May and October, by a wide enough margin to keep the phrase alive for decades.

🗓 The explanation is partly structural. Summer brings lower institutional participation and thinner volumes, which reduces price support. Earnings season winds down after Q1, removing a consistent positive catalyst from the calendar.

The data supports it on average. From 1950 to 2023, the Dow averaged around 7.5% gains in the November-April window versus roughly 0.3% in May-October. That is not a crash pattern, just a reliably thin one for returns.

‼️ Crypto does not follow this cleanly. Bitcoin responds to liquidity cycles, ETF flows, and supply dynamics far more than to seasonal tendencies. May 2024 was strong on ETF inflows. May 2021 was a disaster for unrelated reasons. The seasonal rule describes a historical average in equities and that's it!

Is the KYC era coming to an end? 🤷‍♂️

OpenAI's new image model generates faces realistic enough to clear liveness detection. Grok can animate any photo into video.

🔍 Crypto exchanges have no access to government databases. Their systems verify that your face matches the document photo and that the document's fields are internally consistent, meaning all the data lines up and unique codes add up correctly.

Take a look at these photos and this test video of a non-existent French girl with her fake ID. What's imperfect today will become routine in 12–24 months. The industry has no answer to this, at all.

The number of scams is set to increase dramatically worldwide 😨

How to get 5,000 free LLM requests a day 😱

Most people don't know how much free AI capacity is sitting around unclaimed. Three platforms, each free with no card required, stack together to give you more daily usage than most personal projects will ever need.

Here's how to set it up:

1️⃣Google AI Studio. Sign up and grab a free API key. Gets you access to Gemini, Google's main model. 1,500 requests a day, nothing to pay.

2️⃣Groq. Runs open-source models like Llama at speeds most paid providers can't match. Free tier, no card.

3️⃣OpenRouter. One API key that routes to about 30 free models at once, including DeepSeek and Llama. When one hits its daily limit, you switch to the next.

If you're not doing anything that specifically requires Claude or GPT, this setup covers most use cases for free. No reason to pay $20 a month before you've tried it 🤖

What Is a Token in LLMs 🤖

A token is the basic unit a language model reads and writes. Not a word, not a character. In English, one token is roughly three to four characters, about 0.75 words on average.

💻 Models never see raw text. Everything you type gets converted into a sequence of token IDs before processing, then decoded back into text on the way out. This happens invisibly on every request.

The context window is the total number of tokens a model can hold at once. Your input, its output, and any system instructions all count against it. GPT-4o handles 128k tokens, Claude Sonnet goes up to 200k.

Pricing is quoted per million tokens, and input costs less than output because generating tokens is computationally heavier than reading them.

🤔 Reasoning models add another layer. o1, Gemini Thinking, Claude with extended thinking all generate internal reasoning steps before producing a visible answer. Those hidden steps are tokens too, billed at output rates. A short question can trigger thousands of tokens of work you never see.

Non-English text is less token-efficient. A sentence in Russian or Japanese often takes more tokens than the same sentence in English, because tokenizers were trained on corpora heavily skewed toward English. That affects both cost and how much fits inside the context window ❗️

Perp DEXes worth farming right now 🕯

⏺Hyperliquid: rumors of a third points season, with 38.8% of HYPE supply still reserved for the community.

UAE quits OPEC after 59 years 🇦🇪

The UAE announced it will withdraw from OPEC effective May 1, ending a 59-year membership. The energy minister called it a result of "policy changes." The honest framing: the UAE traded its OPEC seat for financial alignment with the US.

OPEC is the cartel that sets production quotas for member countries to keep oil supply controlled and prices high. Less oil out of the ground, more money per barrel.

📊 The capacity chart (above) tells the real story. The UAE built out to 4.85m bpd while its OPEC+ quota capped actual output near 3.3m bpd. That's 1.4m barrels per day sitting idle, with crude above $100. The country is now targeting 5m bpd by 2027, and that number requires no quota ceiling.

The UAE simply wants dollar swap access from the U.S. and it wants to monetize capacity it already built and paid for. Both problems get solved the same way.

🤔 Once one member exits for self-interest, the cartel logic starts breaking for everyone else. If others follow, global supply climbs, oil prices fall, and inflation comes down with them. Central banks get cover to cut. That's good for almost every other asset class.

Watch whether Saudi (OPEC big boss) responds with escalation or absorbs this quietly. That's the actual tell for where oil and other markets go next 👀

The Chinese property market is in free fall and has just hit a 20-year low 🔽

The BIS index for Chinese residential property sits at 86.79. It peaked at 113 in 2021. That is a 25% collapse in 4 years and it is still falling.

📉 70% of urban household wealth was parked in property. Not stocks. Not savings. Property. That wealth is being destroyed in real time.

Housing starts are down 60% from pre-pandemic levels. The top 100 developers saw sales fall 28% in 2024. 80 million homes sit empty with no buyers in sight.

The biggest property developers in the country are either bankrupt, being bailed out, or fighting to survive. Beijing has officially declared the old growth model dead, with nothing ready to replace it 🏚

Local governments funded themselves through land sales for decades. That revenue is gone. Local government debt now stands at $18.9T, with two-thirds of new borrowing used just to service old debt.

👍 China spent 30 years building the largest property bubble in human history. The unwind is now in its 5th year and nowhere near finished...

How to Know the Fed's Rate Decision Before It Happens 🤔

The Fed left rates unchanged today at 3.50-3.75%. I knew they will do it two weeks ago. Not from insider information, from a free tool anyone can use.

🔍 FedWatch reads the price of fed funds futures contracts traded on the CME Group exchange. These are contracts where real money gets placed on what the Fed will do at each meeting. The prices imply probabilities. A 92% chance of no change means traders with actual positions on the line have priced no change as near-certain. That is different from an analyst opinion, which costs nothing to hold.

The tool shows the probability split for each possible outcome at the next meeting: hold, cut by 25bps, cut by 50bps, hike, and so on. Below that, you get the full rate path implied across the next 13 FOMC meetings. This is where it gets genuinely useful, because it tells you not just what the market expects next week, but where rates are expected to be in 2 years 📆

The history tab matters too. Watching how probabilities shift over weeks tells you when the market's view is changing direction. A cut that was priced at 15% three weeks ago and sits at 60% today is more interesting than either number alone.

🕯 What you do with this information depends on how you trade. If the value isn't immediately clear to you, that's a signal to read more before putting money near macro events. Start with the #FAQ tag on this channel.

North Korea helped make April DeFi's worst month in history 😔

April recorded 29 DeFi hacks in 30 days, with $635M in total losses. Nearly 90% of the damage came from two attacks: Drift lost $285M, KelpDAO lost $293M. Both hacks now trace back to North Korea's Lazarus Group.

🇰🇵 For North Korea, crypto theft is a state industry. The regime pulled an estimated $2.02B from crypto in 2025, bringing its all-time total past $6.75B. Lazarus doesn't only exploit code. The group reportedly embedded fake developers inside roughly 40 DeFi projects over several years, mapping their infrastructure before striking.

The structural problem is bigger than any individual attack. DeFi removed the intermediaries that traditional finance spent decades learning to use as a last line of defense. Most protocols launched without the security baseline a mid-sized bank would treat as a minimum 🤷‍♀️

AI tools that scan for vulnerabilities at scale will make this worse before it gets better. Every major breach forces protocols to patch what they should have caught at launch. Eventually the sector will be more secure. How many people lose their savings in the process is a separate conversation nobody wants to have 💰

Tether made $1.04B in Q1 🤑

Tether posted $1.04B in net profit for Q1 2026, during one of the more volatile quarters in recent memory. The reserve buffer hit a record $8.23B ↗️

Total USDT in circulation: around $183B. The breakdown of what backs it as of March 31:

⏺$141B in US Treasuries

⏺$20B in physical gold

⏺$7B in Bitcoin.

The model behind those numbers is almost offensively simple. Take dollars from people who want stablecoins, park them in Treasuries, keep the yield, pay nothing to holders.

That’s it. Revenue doesn’t depend on market direction, trading volume, or sentiment. It just depends on interest rates and circulation size, both of which have been working in Tether’s favor for years.

💰 For full-year 2025, Tether reported over $10B in net profit. Coinbase, one of the largest public crypto companies, made $1.26B over the same period. Coinbase runs thousands of employees, a full brokerage operation, compliance teams across multiple jurisdictions. Meanwhile, Tether has around 300 employees.

🤔 No surprise that people close to Trump have (reportedly) been looking for a way into the company. A business that prints this quietly, in any market condition, with almost no credit exposure, doesn’t show up often.
