Is artificial intelligence capable of consciousness? We’ll hear from an expert who believes that AI is not as intelligent as we sometimes think, and as usual, we’ll be learning some new vocabulary as well. [BBC podcasts - 6 Minute English]

Insoniyat mikroskoplar yordamida "Nanoskopik dunyo" ajoyibotlarini kashf etib kelmoqda!! Hech o'ylab ko'rganmisiz, bitta atomni ko'rish mumkinmi? Yoki olimlar va muhandislar bir necha nanometr kenglikdagi tranzistorlarni qanday sintez qiladi? Ushbu videoda, transmissiya elektron va skanerlash elektron mikroskopini qanday ishlashini batafsil ko'rib chiqamiz. 00:00 - The Nanoscopic World

O’z ilmiy sohasida samarali faoliyat olib borayotgan yetakchi olimlarga talab har yerda yuqori. Ilmiy jurnallar ham aynan zamonaviy va dolzarb bo’lgan maqolalarni chop etishni hohlaydi. Demak, jurnallarga topshirilgan maqolalarni ishonchliligini qisqa muddatda asl bahosini berish uchun, jurnal taqrizchilarga murojaat qiladi. Maqolani imkon qadar sinchiklab o’qib obyektiv baholash kerak. Shunday ekan taqrizchi sohani chuqur bilishi va zamon bilan hamnafas yurishi kerak. Taqriz jarayoni uchun olimlarga odatda 7-20 kun oralig’ida vaqt beriladi. Shu vaqt ichida maqolani imkon qadar sinchiklab o’rganib kamchilar sharh ko’rinishida yoziladi. Vaqt yetmasa qo’shimcha vaqt so’raladi. Agar ilmiy yangilik bo’lmasa maqola qaytariladi (reject). Maqolani yangiligi bo’lsa, lekin bajarilgan tajriba to’liq xulosa qilish uchun yetarli bo’lmasa yoki tajribalarda xatolik bo’lsa qayta ishlashga beriladi, qo’shimcha ma’lumotlar kiritiladi (major revision). Agar maqola yaxshi yozilgan, ilmiy yangiligi bor, dolzarb muammo yechilgan, kamchiliklardan holi bo’lsa chop etishga qabul qilinadi (accept). Taqriz jarayonida baribir kichik kamchiliklar ko’zga tashlanadi va o’zgartirish so’raladi, yan’ni qayta ishlanadi (minor revision). Maqola mualliflari tomonidan taqrizchilarninig sharhlariga javob xati tayyorlanadi va jurnal maqolani yangilangan varianti va javob xatini qaytib taqrizchilarga jo’natadi. Taqrizchilar javoblardan qoniqish hosil qilsa maqola chop etishga qabul qilinadi. Shunday, taqrizlarimdan birini sizlar bilan bo’lishmoqchiman. Mualliflardan e’tirof so’zlarini eshitsaiz ketgan vaqtizga rozi bo’vorasiz ::)) (The authors appreciate the time and effort the reviewers dedicated to providing feedback on our manuscript and are grateful for the insightful comments on and valuable improvements to our paper).

A team of researchers at Georgia Tech and Tianjin University has created the world’s first functional semiconductor made from graphene, a single sheet of carbon atoms held together by the strongest bonds known. Semiconductors are materials that conduct electricity under specific conditions and are foundational components of electronic devices.
Led by Walter de Heer, professor of physics at Georgia Tech, the research throws open the door to a new way of doing electronics. The breakthrough technology could allow for smaller and faster electronic devices and may have applications for quantum computing.
