🥶 Developers want to freeze BTC on old wallets
Quantum Bitcoin Summit proposed a radical solution: freeze vulnerable BTC, including Satoshi coins, to avert disaster.
25% of all bitcoins (including Satoshi's ~1 million BTC) use outdated cryptography and can be hacked by quantum computers.
If attackers gain access to these coins, a massive sell-off and price crash awaits the market.
The gist of the proposal (BIP by Jameson Lopp, Casa):
⚪️ Ban transfers to old addresses (ECDSA/Schnorr).
⚪️ After 5 years, completely block withdrawals from such addresses.
⚪️ Optionally use mechanism to restore frozen coins through proof of ownership of seed phrase (no inflation risk).

☠️ In the first half of 2025, more than $3 billion was stolen in 119 hacks — exceeding the total for the whole of 2024, according to Global Ledger.
Laundering stolen funds takes just minutes, and in 23% of cases, it is completed before the incident is publicly disclosed.
Only 4.2% of the funds were recovered. 15% of laundered assets passed through centralized exchanges, which have only 10–15 minutes to block them. Most of the losses (54%) are related to attacks on CEX exchanges.

📊 Investment company Bitwise has presented a long-term forecast for BTC — in the base scenario, analysts expect the price to rise to $1,300,000 by 2035.
In the bullish scenario, the price could reach almost $3 million, and in the bearish scenario, around $88,000.
The key drivers of growth are institutional demand and the fixed supply of BTC, which is unable to satisfy growing investor interest.
