ICE and OKX Form 50/50 Joint Venture to Tokenize NYSE Equities

Named OKXICE and co-chaired by former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the venture plans to register as a U.S. broker-dealer and futures commission merchant, opening NYSE-listed equities and ICE futures to OKX's 120 million users on-chain.

It deepens a relationship that began with ICE's $200M investment in OKX at a $25B valuation earlier this year. Both sides say they will explore additional blockchain-based markets, subject to regulatory approvals.

The owner of the New York Stock Exchange and one of the largest global crypto exchanges splitting a tokenized-markets venture down the middle marks one of the deepest TradFi and crypto tie-ups to date.
Kraken-Backed Ink Signs Multi-Year Infrastructure Deal With Optimism

Ink is upgrading to Optimism’s OP Enterprise Fully Managed under a multi-year agreement. The deal will see Optimism operate Ink’s production infrastructure while the Ink Foundation focuses on ecosystem expansion and new financial products.

Launched in December 2024, Ink processed over 1 million transactions within its first 24 hours and now supports applications generating nearly $40 million in annual revenue.

As part of the partnership, Ink will also become a design partner for OP Enterprise, helping shape infrastructure tools for institutions and exchanges building onchain financial products. The roadmap includes programmable block building, faster withdrawals, and compliance-focused features.

The collaboration marks one of the first major cases of a Layer 2 outsourcing infrastructure operations to a managed provider, further strengthening the Optimism ecosystem.
Binance Vows to Stay in Europe Despite MiCA Licence Setback

Binance says it is not leaving Europe after its bid for a MiCA licence through Greece looked set to be rejected. Its head of Europe said the exchange will seek authorisation through another EU member state.

The EU's transitional period ends June 30, after which any exchange without a CASP authorisation cannot legally serve clients in the bloc. Binance has roughly a week to secure a licence or wind down its EU business.

The firm says it remains fully committed to MiCA, pointing to more than 1,500 compliance staff, even as the standoff sets up a direct clash with European regulators.
Uniswap Adds No-Code Token Auctions to Its App

Uniswap, DeFi's largest decentralized exchange, has added a no-code tool that lets any project configure and run an onchain token sale straight from a browser, with no smart contracts to write.

Sales use Uniswap's Continuous Clearing Auctions: bids clear across multiple blocks at one uniform price for every winner, blunting bot snipers, and the auction auto-seeds a v4 liquidity pool on close.

The move pushes Uniswap deeper into the token-launch market, taking aim at memecoin launchpads like Pumpfun.
Kraken Eyes 15% of Aave at a $385M Valuation

Kraken, part of Payward, is in talks to take a 15% stake in DeFi lender Aave at a $385 million valuation — reportedly putting up 35,000 ETH for 250,000 AAVE plus an equity slice.

Aave founder Stani Kulechov pushed back hard, saying there is 'NO WAY' Aave would sell AAVE at a 70% discount to its fully diluted value.

The talks are part of Payward's push to diversify ahead of a possible IPO, with the Aave stake slated as the first deal for its new Payward Asset Management arm.
Binance Suspends EU Services After Missing MiCA Deadline

Binance is set to halt some services for customers in Poland, Italy, Spain, and France after failing to secure a MiCA license before the June 30 transition deadline.

The exchange said customer assets remain safe and there is no immediate withdrawal deadline, but it urged users to act quickly to avoid disruptions.

Co-founder CZ called the situation “sad,” saying Binance’s liquidity is still among the strongest protections for users. Meanwhile, compliant rivals such as Bitpanda and OKX are positioning to expand across Europe as Binance plans to reapply and stay committed to the region long term.

Story Protocol Rebrands to The DATA Foundation

Story Protocol has rebranded as the DATA Foundation, shifting from general IP infrastructure to onchain rails for licensable, verifiable AI training data.

It launched Trace, a registry minting an onchain receipt for every data contribution, with a flagship Kled integration adding over 1.5 billion user records.

Story's IP token migrates one-to-one to a new DATA token. Co-founder Andrea Muttoni becomes CEO, with Kled's Avi Patel joining as chief data officer.

Loopring Shuts Down Its Pioneering zkRollup DEX

Loopring has shut its decentralized exchange effective immediately, pulling the relayer that powered trading offline, after the pioneering zkRollup venue never won meaningful user adoption.

The team admitted its early design — built without a virtual machine — was outpaced by modern zkEVMs. TVL has cratered roughly 99% from a $760M peak to about $8M.

Loopring will reconcile balances and return funds straight to users' Ethereum wallets, covering gas — but accounts holding under $10 are excluded to keep payouts efficient.
90 Days in Crypto: Launches & Funding

Q2 2026, one board. The quarter's biggest moves — who raised, who launched, who got acquired, and the funds writing the checks.

The headlines:
Bullish → Equinity, $4.2B — the quarter's biggest deal
Kalshi raised $1.2B (Series F) — prediction markets' breakout round
Re returned 13.8x from a $50M token launch
Saturn — biggest new DeFi protocol, $172M TVL out of the gate
Fluent led new mainnets at $24.2M TVL
Coinbase Ventures — most active fund, 16 rounds
Top DeFi Protocols by TVL Launched in Q2 2026

Saturn topped the new class at $181M TVL, a Bitcoin-backed dual token (USDat pays, sUSDat yields). But the real story is the pattern: half the list is risk curators on Morpho — Galaxy Digital, Wintermute (Armitage), Anthias, Gami. The newest DeFi money isn't chasing apps, it's institutions bringing vault curation onchain.
Strategy Approves Up to $1.25B in Bitcoin Sales

Strategy unveiled a Digital Credit Capital Framework that, for the first time, lets the long buy-only company sell Bitcoin to actively manage its capital.

Its new BTC Monetization Program clears up to $1.25B in sales to refill the ~$2.55B USD reserve, cover dividends, or fund buybacks — alongside $2B in new repurchase authorizations.

Saylor stressed Bitcoin stays the primary reserve asset, with cash covering ~17 months of dividends. MSTR snapped a 9-day losing streak on the news.
MetaMask Launches a Money Account With 4% Yield

MetaMask unveiled the Money Account, a self-custodial account that automatically earns up to ~4% APY on its mUSD stablecoin as you trade, send, and spend.

Funds spend worldwide via the MetaMask Card with up to 3% back, and deposits in mUSD, USDC, USDT, or DAI carry no conversion fees.

mUSD is backed 1:1 by USD and short-term Treasuries via Bridge, a Stripe company. The account is rolling out now on MetaMask Mobile.
Where RWA Value Actually Grew in Q2 2026

Total tokenized RWA barely moved for the quarter (+7%) — but the growth underneath was anything but even. Which chains pulled it in:

Solana led by a mile, adding $1.06B (+47%) to reach $3.29B. Stellar was next at +$910M (+64%), and ZKsync Era posted the fastest run of all — up 365% to $975M.

The pattern: while Ethereum's RWA base shrank, value rotated hard into Solana, Stellar and the fast L2s. The map of tokenized assets is being redrawn — and not in Ethereum's favor.
Kraken Completes Its Acquisition of Reap

Payward — Kraken's parent — has closed its acquisition of Reap, a stablecoin-native card issuing and payments infrastructure firm licensed across APAC and the Americas.

The deal folds card issuance, cross-border payments and treasury into Payward's B2B platform — one API instead of multiple correspondent banks. Reap stays a standalone brand under co-founder Daren Guo.

Announced in May and closed July 1 with terms undisclosed — another sign stablecoin rails are becoming default for cross-border business payments.
Standard Chartered Is First G-SIB to Offer USDC Access

Standard Chartered and Circle have launched institutional USDC minting and redemption — making Standard Chartered the first global systemically important bank (G-SIB) to offer it through a regulated banking channel.

The service runs out of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), giving institutions a bank-grade on-ramp to mint and redeem USDC directly against Circle's reserves.

It's a milestone for stablecoin adoption — a top-tier global bank plugging USDC straight into regulated finance.
Solana (SOL) Has Launched Onchain Governance

Solana has gone live with onchain governance, letting validators and SOL stakers formally propose, back and vote on core protocol changes directly on the network.

Opening a proposal requires 100,000 SOL staked — around $7.7M — a deliberately high bar to keep out spam and low-effort proposals.

It shifts Solana's protocol decisions onchain, formalizing what had mostly run off-chain through core teams.
