🇪🇺 ESMA TELLS EU CRYPTO FIRMS TO EXIT NON MiCA STABLECOIN EXPOSURE BY JAN 8
EU’s securities regulator is giving crypto firms until January 8, 2027 to exit stablecoin exposure that does not comply with MiCA rules.
The guidance covers trading, custody, transfers and investment advice, with firms allowed to provide only limited wind down services such as liquidations and withdrawals.
Europe is tightening the rules around stablecoins, and crypto firms operating in the EU now have a clear deadline.

BREAKING: Ledger is investigating a potential $86 million theft linked to hardware wallets sold through a reseller in southeast asia.
hardware wallets are supposed to be the safest way to hold crypto. the whole pitch is that your keys never leave the device. but that only holds if the device you receive hasn't already been tampered with before it reaches you
the leading theory right now is supply chain compromise — wallets pre-seeded with attacker-controlled recovery phrases before they were ever sold. buyers set them up, moved funds in, and handed the attacker the keys without knowing it
$86M across what appears to be multiple victims, all tied to the same reseller channel
Ledger sells direct for exactly this reason. buying a hardware wallet from a third-party reseller, especially one without direct ledger authorization, has always been the known risk vector. someone just found $86M worth of people who didn't know that.
