Who Wants To Know What’s Really Behind Ripple’s Success

Before I start, let’s have a look at Ripples performance today. At the time of writing Ripple XRP is valued at $0.920 and is up 5.03%. The currency is fast approaching $1.00, with that target in sight and seemingly more likely, we should explore why Ripple has had such a fantastic time over the past few weeks in order to work out if this is just a temporary gain, or a sign of something bigger and better, could Ripple XRP hit $3.00 soon?

Well, today, Oracle Times have published a great article that discusses this concept.

Has Ripple finally shifted its bad reputation, through its commitment to ensuring its technology is adopted into the mainstream? Quite possibly. We’ve never really considered Ripples past reputation before, we have always approached Ripple XRP as a future currency and therefore have always looked ahead of where Ripple stands. But actually, it’s previous drought is something we shouldn’t ignore.
Bitcoin flirting with $10,000: Here’s what’s triggering this

Bitcoin now has a market cap of more than $150 billion, a major improvement on previous weeks but still considerably below peak valuation of around $320 billion in late 2017.

Other major cryptocurrencies have been boosted by bitcoin’s recent resurgence, including ethereum, ripple and litecoin.

“The most significant gains were experienced by the bitcoin spin-off bitcoin cash, which has almost doubled in value in the last week from $750 to $1,500,” according to the Independent.

“The market-wide gains follow several months of steadily decreasing prices, which some analysts believe represent a bursting bitcoin bubble.”

Bitcoin at one point dropped $14,000 from its December 2017 high of $20,000 between January and April.

Factors included regulatory crackdowns in the US, South Korea, and other countries, lack of trust in cryptos on the back of thefts, heist, and other investor calamities like ICO frauds.
Boom or Bust, Twist or Stick? It's Six Weeks High & Rising for Bitcoin

The cryptocurrency bitcoin is trading at US$9,340 on the Bitstamp platform, which is a modest rise after its dramatic fall in January 2017 following its all-time high of US$20,000 in December 2017.

Nigel Green, founder and CEO of the De Vere Group told the free London newspaper, City AM "current market activity indicates that the major cryptocurrencies are set for another considerable surge in prices gains in the near future."

"We're certainly entering crypto bull territory, with many retail and institutional investors now finding that cryptocurrencies can no longer ignore the opportunities," Nigel Green said.
Hackers steal ethereums from cryptocurrency wallet service

Cryptocurrency wallet service provider MyEtherWallet (MEW) issued a warning on Twitter that a couple of its DNS (Domain Name System) servers have been hacked and users risk being redirected to a phishing site.

Data from Chainalysis shows that Tuesday’s hack resulted in a loss of about 215 ethereums worth roughly US$152,000.

Users of the popular online ethereum storage solution reported that when connecting to the wallet service, they were faced with an unsigned SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate, a broken link in the site’s verification system.

If they clicked through this certificate warning, they were redirected to a server in Russia controlled by the hackers, who proceeded to empty the user’s wallet.

Hackers appear to have taken snatched the cryptocurrencies in two hours before the attack was shut down, tech website The Verge reports.

In an official statement posted on Reddit, the company confirmed the attack, noting that the redirecting of DNS servers is a decade-old hacking technique that aims to undermine the internet’s routing system.
Is Stellar Set To Be In The Top 5?

The cryptocurrency market is slowly picking up again after a pretty poor performance this year, and is having a positive effect on all crypto coins. However, one that has really stood out is Stellar, which continues to perform well. It is flourishing so much, that it has been pipped as being one of the top 5 cryptocurrencies.

According to coinmarketcap, Stellar has a market capital of $6,405,493,222 with a trade price of $0.344929. The recent bull run is likely to be down to some recent partnerships. Just a few days ago XLM, partnered with Novatti Group, which is a go-to global fintech and systems integration provider. They have also partnered with IBM, and in the past with the Kin Foundation.

Stellar, like Ripple is also branded as a distributed payment technology that is completely open source. It shares the same founder AS Ripple, Jed McCaleb, and initially used the same protocol. It was originally designed to eliminate the connectivity problems that were encountered between financial institutions, whilst aiming to reduce the cost and time of transaction at the same time. The Stellar technology creates a nexus between banks, payment tools and people and the protocol makes it incredibly easy to achieve multinational fund and asset transfer in a reliable, quick and cheap manner.

Crypto Exchange Gemini to Monitor Trading Using Nasdaq Tech

Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini announced Wednesday that it is partnering with Nasdaq to monitor trading activities on its platform.

Gemini will use Nasdaq's SMARTS Market Surveillance offering to automatically detect any possible price manipulation or other illicit activities, according to a Wednesday's announcement.

Nasdaq currently uses this technology to monitor its marketplaces for abnormal activity. Part of the system compares historical trading data with real-time activity to look for "unusual trading patterns that could be potential breaches of exchange trading rules and practices," as Nasdaq explains.

The cryptocurrency exchange will use it to monitor its major trading pairs for bitcoin and ether, particularly the crypto-to-crypto pairings and those involving the U.S. dollar. Additionally, any suspicious activities tied to bitcoin futures contracts will also be sought out.
Bitcoin Price Rebounds to $9,200 After a 10% Decline, Market Begins to Rebound

The bitcoin price has rebounded to $9,200 after experiencing a 10 percent decline on April 26, from $9,700 to $8,800. The sharp decline in the price of bitcoin was said to be triggered by the sale of the Mt. Gox trustee funds.

More than 17,000 bitcoins were said to be dumped on the public cryptocurrency exchange market over the past 24 hours by the Mt. Gox trustee. At a price of $9,700, 17,000 bitcoins were worth $165 million and that large sum of funds were dumped on major cryptocurrency exchanges.

Previously, the Mt. Gox trustee triggered the bitcoin price to drop by large margins in several occasions. The organization was heavily criticized for their decision to utilize public cryptocurrency exchanges to sell their funds instead of disposing them in the over-the-counter (OTC) market.
Ethereum could hit $2,500 by year end, consultancy firm says

Independent consultancy firm, deVere Group, said the price of the second largest digital currency, Ether ETHUSD, +3.74% could be in for a record-setting year, predicting the price could rise fourfold.

“The price of Ethereum is predicted to increase significantly this year, and could hit $2,500 by the end of 2018 with a further increase by 2019 and 2020,” wrote Nigel Green, founder and CEO of deVere Group, in an email to MarketWatch.

“This general upswing will be fueled by three mains drivers. First, more and more platforms are using Ethereum as a means of trading. Second, the increased use of smart contracts by Ethereum. And third, the decentralization of cloud computing.”

Green also said regulation in the cryptocurrency sector is inevitable, which will lead to greater investor protection and long-term confidence in the market.

Ether coins, which are underpinned by the Ethereum network, has become the digital currency of choice for new token issuers because of its efficiency and flexibility—the average processing time for transactions on Ethereum is around 14 seconds, compared with Bitcoin’s, which can be up to 10 minutes.

The current market value of Ether is $67.4 billion.
Has Bitcoin Been Shot Down?

Another week, another outrageous prediction for the price of Bitcoin. We just saw a forecast at more than 75 times the current value of the currency. The figure is $700,000. Is Bitcoin really about to take off to the Moon or has it been shot down?

The honest answer is that nobody can say this with certainty. It’s probably not the answer you expected but we are more interested in giving you accurate information than false enthusiasm. Before we give you our view on the matter, let’s get to know the $700,000 claim. In an article on the Fortune website, we read:

John Pfeffer, a partner at his London-based family office Pfeffer Capital, is not only betting on Bitcoin, but giving it a bold price target of $700,000—about 75 times the current Bitcoin price of nearly $9,500.
Cardano Price Targets $0.35 as South Korean Bulls Make Their Mark

As is always the case when cryptocurrencies go through a bullish spell, there will be a brief correction afterward. In the case of the Cardano price, that correction has not been all that significant, even though there was a fair amount of bearish pressure earlier this week.

With the Cardano price dropping from $0.32 to $0,265, not much has been lost when all markets went through a steep dip, but it is evident the volatility still plays an integral role in the cryptocurrency world. Ever since that dip, the Cardano price has been moving up steadily. As such, it is now sitting at just under $0.35, and may surpass that value sooner rather than later.

Thanks to another 15.39% gain over the past few hours, the Cardano price is extremely bullish all of a sudden. The currency has also gained 13.54% over Bitcoin, which is interesting to take note of. It is good to see multiple cryptocurrencies rebound so strongly after the dip, as there were some concerns over how this market would evolve after that sudden bearish momentum.

With $336.85m in 24-hour trading volume, things look pretty good for Cardano. It is not the highest trading volume this altcoin has ever seen, but it is far from the worst. If the volume continues to increase at a steady rate, reaching a Carano price of $0,35 and higher is not out of the question over the course of this weekend.

Charlie Lee, former director of engineering at Coinbase crypto exchange and the creator of Litecoin (LTC) has expressed his intention to make the altcoin a global decentralized cryptocurrency in an interview with TenX made Friday, April 27. Lee stressed the decentralized nature of Bitcoin provided by its anonymous creator as its key feature, which is missed at Litecoin.
