🔑 Crypto exchange Wagyu has confirmed a data breach spanning the last three months

User funds and swap operations remain unaffected.

Researchers at Hudson Rock analyzed a dataset containing 38,628 order records and 10,139 unique IP addresses. Some of the data included deposit transactions, XMR (Monero) receiving addresses, and client IP addresses—a combination that could theoretically be used to link a public deposit to a specific Monero wallet.

The hackers demanded $5 million for access to the leaked files. The Wagyu team stated that they have since strengthened their security measures.

The maximum annual issuance will be gradually reduced from 2.5% to 1.6% over the course of two years. The initiative was supported by 99.97% of the veNEAR tokens that participated in the vote.

For token holders, this means a slower growth in the token supply. However, staking rewards will also decrease; according to the authors' estimates, the gross yield could fall from 5.27% to 3.37%, assuming the proportion of tokens being staked remains constant.

The reduction will not take effect immediately: it will require a review by the Security Council, a protocol upgrade, adoption by validators, and a transition period of approximately 90 days.
