➡️ What is Cognitive Warfare

This is not just classic "scams" through social engineering or spam. It is a new level of impact where the goal is not to seize territory, but to change the way of thinking and perception of reality of the population.

• Essence: Unlike classic information warfare (where simply fake news is thrown in), cognitive warfare aims to undermine logical connections. The task is to make it so that a person cannot distinguish truth from lies even when facts are present.

• Main goal — changing human consciousness, not just impacting information systems or public opinion.

• AI Role: Heavy models like Mythos from "ethical" Anthropic, integrated into the NSA, analyze millions of messages and posts, identify society's "pain points" (fears, triggers), and generate content that elicits the desired emotional response.

Cognitive warfare is not only about propaganda in the old sense.
It is about automated persuasion. It is about systems that can manufacture evidence, emotion, consensus, outrage, legitimacy, and authority at scale.
It is about deepfakes that do not merely deceive, but contaminate trust.

It is about synthetic victims used for emotional manipulation. It is about slopaganda, meme warfare, fake captures, misidentified footage, botnets, agents provocateurs, apocalyptic prophecy narratives, and influence operations.

As stated in the report of NATO's chief scientific, three levels are involved in cognitive warfare:

1. Biological Level: Manipulating Capacity
This level directly targets the nervous system as the focal substrate of thought, emotion and behavior.

2. Psychological level: Manipulation of interpretation
Here, the focus is upon influencing cognitive appraisal(s), framing, emotions, and the patterns of thought that contribute to and shape individual and collective attitudes, beliefs and judgment.

3. Social Level: Manipulating Cohesion
This is the over-arching level for influencing shared narratives, beliefs, institutional legitimacy, and public views, values and activities.

➡️ What is "Narrative Intelligence" in the context of Cognitive Warfare

1. Identification of "consciousness viruses": The system scans the information field and determines which ideas and narratives are gaining strength. It looks not just for keywords, but for semantic nodes — what people begin to believe in.

2. Preventive suppression: If the system sees a dangerous narrative, it begins to "dissolve" it. The model generates thousands of comments and articles that do not argue head-on, but mock, lead the topic into absurdity, or create information noise. The goal is to make the person tired of the topic, abandon the investigation, and refuse resistance.

3. Automation of influence: Rigidly programmed military systems are capable of conducting thousands of dialogues simultaneously, pushing each interlocutor toward a certain conclusion in such a way that the person considers the conclusion their own.

The objective is not to make people believe one specific lie.

The objective is to exhaust their ability to know what is true at all.

👁🛰 The next frontier in electronic espionage: DARPA’s self-building space reflector

A patent application was recently published, originating from the California Institute of Technology — Caltech, the breeding ground of NASA and US defense intelligence. It is titled: “Systems and Methods for Creating Structures in Space.” The invention was developed with support from a grant issued by DARPA.

Here is what we know so far:

🌏 DARPA is patenting an autonomous space factory that, without human intervention, assembles a giant mesh reflector antenna in orbit. The robot takes carbon fiber tubes and hinge joints from an internal storage unit, links them into sections, and pushes the finished sections out one by one and like a spider weaving its web, a ring-shaped truss gradually grows to a diameter of 100 meters, or even 200. That’s two football fields placed end to end, hovering above Earth at an altitude of 36,000 kilometers.

🌏 Why does DARPA need such a monster? In radio physics, there is a simple law: any antenna is an “ear,” and its gain increases proportionally to the square of its diameter. Double the reflector, and it will “hear” four times better.

🌏 A 200-meter aperture in geostationary orbit becomes a serious tool for electronic espionage. For the NSA or US military intelligence, this is a space-based SIGINT (radio interception) capability at a fundamentally new level. No single ground-based system can offer comparable coverage of an entire continent simultaneously.

🌏 Such a system could intercept signals from military tactical radios — powerful 10-to-50-watt transmitters operating on known frequency bands. Triangulating the location of actively emitting objects — mobile command posts, radars, communication nodes — is entirely feasible with such an antenna.

🌏 A massive aperture also makes it possible to create an extremely narrow, so-called “pencil” communication beam. To jam such a control channel, electronic warfare systems would have to be positioned directly within that narrow footprint on the ground — making suppression an extremely difficult task.

🌏 The Americans are systematically moving heavy military infrastructure directly into orbit. And this patent application from Caltech is yet another, very concrete step in that direction.
