When a Mac die and you need to replace that, you discover HOW OUR WORLD IS NOT A DATAHOARDING WORLD! All used Macs with the same year of production have shitty limited storage, because most people by Macs with basic useless storage ...
Content:
And obviously the same will happen in 10 years if you need to buy the same Mac you buy new today, just used because maybe battery is exploded, display is broken or whatever ... because no matter what, most users are average user that don't need serious macs ...
This is the reason why Apple should STOP doing all such shit where components are soldered and cannot be replaced so easy ... or it costs fucking a lot to repair small damages ... or Apple refuse to repair such things, because for them a Mac and MacOS is just shit after 3 years ...

The Worst MacBook to Buy in 2023? My MacBook Pro 2019 16-inch, and the Problems It Causes Me... --> NOPE! It's 2018 and 2019 15" (we trashed 7000$ for this shit, when a MBP 2015 works 1000x better!) but even 2016 and 2017 are pretty SHIT!

Meanwhile great example of Apple fails in one picture, but would be better with the 15 inch MacBook Pro 2019, means: shitty keyboard, Touch Bar, esc button, just 3 Thunderbolt, removal of SD / MagSafe, STILL NO SIM CARD and camera on the back! missing ctrl on the right

Plus still remember, it doesn't make any difference anymore, if you buy a 2021, 2023 or late 2023 ... At the end the minimal MacOS is Monterey (MBP2015), by supporting Ventura (MBP2017) and Sonoma (probably last would be MBP2018/2019). Downgrades were especially up to Big Sur (MBP2013)

Does Rclone alone work in my case?
Content:
So I'm planning to 1. sync files from my local drive to an external drive 2. encrypt those files 3. sync to google drive. I know Rclone can probably do 2 and 3 but can it also do 1?
I want to use as fewer software to achieve this process as possible, any suggestion is welcomed.

Like on Mac you just need Telegram to be able to do all what you need (or browser + Telegram = more powerful than owning 20 Macs!), on VisionOS once you install Telegram, you will reach unlimited possibilities.

One thing is sure, we are surrounded by IDIOT MACOS DEVELOPERS WITHOUT BRAIN! Just an example of many ... Jottacloud works perfectly fine! by if you unlink the account they show this shit = unusable for incompatibility. Same shit? Dropbox, Chromium Browsers (not Google), Discord, Downie, and more

What have we said few weeks ago? Once Chromium is away, Steam (we give a shit, since we don't use it) will go away! Here you go ... For developers is just a "well, i give a shit". For users means losing 5-10k dollars of plugins and software, like in our case ... without considering downgrades

Any way to "merge" two folders without copying contents?
Content:
Currently I have two Plex servers operating at different locations. The remote one has a 14 TB drive attached with ~8 TB of content, the local one only a 4 TB drive. I have separate media (Movie/TV) inside each drive.
Is it at all possible using rclone to configure a remote mount in such a way as to not sync or copy the contents of the large remote drive, but rather link the existing folders into the local drive?
My reasoning for this is that I eventually wish to merge the two into a single server locally, but I cannot retrieve the hardware currently. I want to be able to present the contents of both drives as a single Plex server which retrieves and streams the remote files when needed, but I do not have the capacity locally to simply copy the drive and fetch it later.
I understand I could technically copy the local drive's contents into the remote drive and then fetch the hardware later, but the remote location has very limited bandwidth and I'd rather keep locally what I can in addition to not waiting 10 years for the 4 TB to upload.

Is it possible to mount an external drive to a remote location?
Content:
I have media on a folder, on an external drive which I would like to share remotely to somebody that is on the other side of the country. How can I do that in rclone besides needing a NAS. Is this possible? I am using mac OS.

EasyStore 1TB external from Best Buy: an SSD in a surplus HDD enclosure?
Content:
Hello,

I picked up an easystore external drive today from Best Buy, and I'm concerned about the actual contents and quality of the thing (WDBCHH0010BBK-WESN). It is solid state storage in a form-factor that was clearly intended for an HDD (including USB 3.0 instead of a newer USB-C plug). Only Best Buy stores (and maybe Target) seem to carry this model, and when I called WD directly to inquire about the item, the representative suggested that I return it to the retailer.

I have heard stories over the past year about WD easystore drives that were not as advertised -- even entire batches from major retailers (Wal-mart specifically).

Other info: the write-rate (large files) topped out at 40MB/s on my new laptop (12-core i5, 16 GB RAM), which OK I suppose. The drive size appeared to be legit in file explorer and WinDirStat.

Link to item is below. Any thoughts? It seems to be working fine (300GB copied to the drive so far), but I am suspicious by nature...
