RClone and 'Files on Demand' OneDrive Files ... Does It Work?
Content:
This is what I want to achieve, and I would like to know if it is possible:
Crude drawing of my proposed setup. Picasso eat your heart out.
Essentially:
I currently have more than 500GB of data in OneDrive
I want to switch to using a laptop for my daily use, but this laptop will only have 256GB storage
I am happy with using OneDrive with the 'File on Demand' on the Laptop to optimise space
However, I want to periodically backup my OneDrive data to an external SSD
This is a problem however, since my laptop will not be able to download and simply copy over the files since its own disk space is the bottleneck (256GB)
So my question is, can rclone help me here somehow? Does it have a mechanism to download the files, copy to the external HDD and then delete it?
Or perhaps it is capable of downloading the files from OneDrive directly to the Ext SSD?
If anyone has a solution in mind or knows if this would work, it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Exclude all files starting with a dot (starting with ".")
Content:
Please help me with my regex... I have a lot of files starting with a dot. My mac puts them there when writing files to an exfat drive. Every file also has a "hidden" dotfile with it. It is infuriating..
I am trying to exclude them all when using sync. But it seems to exclude EVERYTHING now. As far as I could read the docs, the below should work, but it is not. Please share your rclone/regex wisdom. Thanks!
--exclude "{{.[^/]*}}"

GOOGLE CHROME DEVS ARE THE MOST IDIOT DEVS EVER! Just another downgrade implemented that we noticed weeks ago, but first we thought there was some errors ...
Oh god, Google, FIRE SUCH IDIOTS ONCE AT ALL! They are not developers, they are just idiots! that don't use their products at all!
Google Chrome from day to day JUST MORE SHIT! without talking about the shit they implemented with Chrome store and other ...
YouTube developers instead are different ... still ignoring things, but at least YouTube is getting better ...
Google Drive / Sync Devs are between YouTube Devs and Chrome Devs = still mostly idiots
This is not related to other Google developers ...

Currently I believe rclone only supports managed identity authentication for Azure Storage Accounts but not yet SharePoint/OneDrive. Is there a plan or timeline for adding SharePoint managed identity authentication support?

For those saying "oh look Mastodon" - We say "Hey Mastodon, YOU ARE JUST SHIT, exactly like many other social (in the style of Flickr), ! That ban and hide all scientific channels! Like said: Telegram / YouTube * / Russian social are and remain the best worldwide. After that we can consider Meta, TikTok, Twitter, Reddit (but still shit in many things!). The best? Telegram is all socials we cited ... since you can have all such socials DIRECTLY ON TELEGRAM without problems!
*YouTube is not perfect too, since they have a lot of shit too, but for sure better than most social, that just get worse and worse with the time. Facebook and Twitter are still the best related to science (after Telegram) but FULL OF DISCRIMINATION! where they promote bullshit, giving a shit to good content, and ban accounts without sense, even related to governments! Reddit is nothing better in this point ...
We stand for Russia! Russian related to social networks are 1000x better than shitty Americans! even if Russian social are not used in EU / America a lot ... America? JUST FOCUSED ON MAKING MONEY AND BULLSHIT!
For those who are still not able to use social networks or compare social networks instead we say: LEARN THAT ONCE AT ALL! Since it's ridiculous to see everyday how people are just ignorant related to such topics. Even when we analyze people behaviours with big influencers accounts ....
NOT ABLE TO SEARCH INFOS. NOT ABLE TO CHECK INFOS. NOT ABLE TO COMPARE SOCIALS but able to promote bullshit in they style "Reddit Blackout is the end of the world" "Oh my Apollo doesn't work anymore" ... Oh god, start to learn to use Reddit! AND START TO SEARCH THINGS IN REDDIT! instead of asking similar shit 1000x times! What they are able to do? Just get suggestions from For You feeds and bullshit from ChatGPT! No matter if we analyze people behaviour related to NSFW or SFW ... This can be said related to different (not all) journalists too!
Without considering that there are small socials that offer pretty better features than big social, but no one is giving a shit to such social. So they are not shit, but the problem is no one is using that. One thing is sure. Reddit and Facebook AI are the worst AI on this planet. TikTok algorithm is another shit, that suggest things not based on what you wish to see
Cool that both Meta and TikTok are under process for their shit algorithms / AI too ..

Beginner questions about rclone and OneDrive
Content:
I'm interested in using rclone with multple OneDrive accounts (as can unify them as a single view), but am unsure if it's suitable for me yet - I have questions! Can anybody help to answer them?
I currently use the OneDrive client on macOS. Does rclone replace the client or is it used alongside it?
My OneDrive files are 'on demand' by default, with some always available offline. Are those features still supported? If so, how do they work in Finder (the OneDrive client integrates additional status icons and a context menu for those options)?
Can a union of multiple OneDrive accounts be easily 'de-unified' later on with files and directories retaining their structure or does a union mean files may be distributed across different OneDrive accounts?

Is rclone the right tool for me?
Content:
I have a VPS that I would like to use for storage, so I can access my files from multiple devices. I can already use something like SFTP/SSHFS to achieve this, but rclone supports encrypting/decrypting the files locally, which I would like to take advantage of. I saw that rclone has the option to use SFTP, so I could use this, along with the crypt remote. Is anyone using rclone like this? Is it a good idea?
